Found this by chance not far from the Marina and were so pleased that we did. A lovely restaurant with authentic atmosphere serving fantastic Italian food. Menu was on a formula basis with choice of main/pasta plus entree and or dessert at fixed prices. However, you will not be disappointed as there is about 4-5 choices in each course and even though our teenage son is generally quite fussy, he even struggled to decide what to order! After enjoying a delicious and very generous caesar salad and bruschetta starter, my son and husband enjoyed a steaming hot pasta whilst I had a fantastic saltamboca; so much so, that we were even too full for dessert. C'est un petit coin de ciel piémontais, ou toscan, niché au coeur de la Rochelle. On est clairement ici dans une "trattoria" typiquement italienne. On ne sert pas ici les sempiternelles pizzas, mais des plats traditionnels italiens de belle facture, et de délicieuses pâtes.L'escalope à la milanaise est digne des meilleures, les petits légumes grillés sont excellents. On râpe son parmesan soi-même sur son assiette, avec la tranche généreuse présentée à chaque service. L'huile d'olive est elle aussi une gourmandise...Un menu "bon marché" du midi, et une carte des vins un peu plus étoffée donneraient à cette adresse un statut d'incontournable. Je suis aller me faire un italien mais alors surprise... Déjà l accueil super sympa le serveur de une extrême gentillesse ensuite j ai commandé un très bon cocktail pour commencer ensuite menu À 30,emtree plat dessert entrée tomate mozza buffalon très frais et copieux ensuite tagliatelles marsala tres goûteuses et très généreux ensuite cerise sur le gâteau la pancotta un délice ça glissai j ai mangé dans des restaurants italiens mais celui là je vous le conseille suggère même ç est le meilleur dans lequel j ai mangé. Un seul regret de ne pas habiter dans cette tres belle ville de la rochelle mais sans aucun doute si je dois revenir à la Rochelle et je reviendrais dans cette très belle table...
Having sampled an amazing number of oysters and mussels along the French coast, we decided to search for something different. We stopped into Le Comptoir Italian, expecting to have pasta, but were so wrong. We each had starters, one with veal and the other with ham, which were wonderful. Then the main course arrived. My wife had the fillet of saumon and I the filet de maigre, a white fish. The meal was simply spectacular. The bottle of Chianti was an excellent accompaniment. We had such a good time we ordered the tiramisu for dessert. Service was simply wonderful. Our sever spoke English, when my French failed. Très bonne cuisine italienne bien exécutée avec des produits de qualité. Tous les plats goûtés sont très agréables de l'apéritif au dessert. Service aimable, efficace et de bon conseil. Salle très agréable. Un très bon moment.
D'abord l'accueil chaleureux et souriant du patron. Ensuite un repas qui nous a régalé, le tout dans une belle lumière de soleil couchant. A recommander.
