I love Touolousian food. I love the duck, the sausage, the cassoulet but, when you're visiting/working here for more than a few days you do, eventually, get tired of it and you want something different. So when my local friends suggested dinner and then suggested Indian food, I was more than happy to go. This is a small restaurant with a typical "I am an Indian restaurant" decor on a side street near Jean-Jaures and Blvd de Strasbourg. The food was good, not outstanding, but a good solid Indian meal. I started with the veggie samosas and had the chicken madras and naan for the main. Nothing to complain about. :-) One word of advice, I like spicy....and vindaloo is one of my favourites. Howeve...

We started using the "Gandi" quite a few years ago and found the service very good and the quality of the food very authentic. We had some very nice chats with the elderly proprietor - he had relations in Dubai where we lived for many years and it was nice to swop stories. However, the past few visits have been very disappointing. The gentleman in question now seems to out making deliveries and has handed over the operation of the restaurant to (I assume) his sons. They seem to have little interest and certainly no enthusiasm and the service is abysmal. We sat for 30 minutes waiting for a menu and after another 20 minutes without placing our order were in the process of leaving when the owne...

Upon arrival the restaurant was empty bar two people, for a Sunday I'd have thought this normal. Progressively over an hour it became quire busy for a small restaurant. The restaurant though compact did not feel crowded. even take-away service is offered, which was brisk.Menu was varied and wide ranging and, in my view, very reasonably priced. Unlike in the UK, the poppadums and chutneys were included in the price of the meal. For once I order a set menu, typical Indian dish and was not disappointed. Order it extra spicy for a good kick. Quality and size of the portions was excellent and food was very tasty.Service was satisfactory. Overall I think it's fair to say this is an excellent choic...

i went to this restraunt with couple of friends when we visited toulouse ..well this a compartively a small place with a average menu selection .we ordered indian veg AND NON VEG GRAVY WITH ROTIS the gravy predicably was made to siut the french palate more than the normal indian..however it wasnt bad..the veg fritters were just about ok..but the rotis were surprisingly excellent .the rates however for a tourist are ok and not very expensive as long as you dont convert into your local currency..however recomend it only if you are dying to taste indian food otherwise best AVIODED.. Based on the initial reviews we had expected much (much) better. Although we really love Indian food, we were quite disappointed about the quality of the food. As there were not many people in the restaurant that night, we also tried to get a conversation going with the owner, but even that wasn't very successful. In short, we left with a feeling of dissatisfaction that was maybe in part due to the failure of our expectations...?

Usually the service in Indian restuarants is over the top but not the case here. There was only one waiter and he obviously had his work cut out for him. We chose from the set menus and although it was good value, it wasn't the best tasting Indian we had had. Not much spice at all.Surroundings were average, not really Indian but ok.

We ordered one of their 3 course specials on the menu and I must admit it was a lot of food. There have a big variety of familiar Indian dishes. The food was great - we ordered very spicy and it was very spicy but really delicious. It was busy for a small restaurant and the waiter handled all the tables with ease!
