Le Grand Balcon Saint-lo

a long day of sightseeing left us looking for a restaurant that was still open at 19:00 clock in the next season st. lo. Despite the D-Day, most restaurants in this far away from the beaches were still closed early. fortunately we found le gran balcon. it. is a very large terrace (here the name,) which would make a lot fun in the summer, but we had just a cold rainy weapon running through the back of mont st. michele and were looking for warm up. the interior of the restaurant is casual and comfortable. honestly, I can't remember what my brother and his wife or my wife ordered, but there was general mood that was eating delicious! everything is fresh and seems locally produced. During the Christmas rush it was nice to find a place still open for business. The waitress who greeted us was very pleasant and helpful and cheerful. We visited twice and the food was okay. Our first visit was to have a good steak cooked...rare. It was cooked as requested but the cut of meat was not too our taste and it was very hard to cut so the steak knives were useful and we left a lot of waste. The next visit I had plat de jour which was chicken in a peppery sauce with pasta and was nice enough. My partner had horse steak with frites with a fiend egg. He seemed to enjoy it.

we sometimes stop for a beer and/or lunch. it is close to the Saturday market and a great spot. many younger people go here. there are three places to sit: outside in the sun to look over the city, under cover. the terrace when it is cold and in the restaurant itself. lunch is good with generous portions a good choice of beer and weeping. the staff is friendly and helpful.

in the ensemble of st lo, especially on Saturday market. eating is typical caffe food/breakfast, although it is a daily set court. because it is always busy, there is not the same warmth as the other places I have done. it is a system, they order, they bring. their order and serve the next customer. that is the deal. a place to meet friends as it is so central.

great for just a caffe au lait after a full morning shopping on the market or for a nice lunch too. good location on the city wall to see how the world passes down. we use le grand balcon every time we go to...St lo and the service is good.
