Had lunch here on a Friday in October. There was a choice of three set menus, including a good selection of fish. The food was very good and beautifully presented. We took the menu at 26 euros, smoked salmon with salmon rillettes and salad, followed by a grilled bream with a wide array of vegetables. Highlight for my wife was a Grand Marnier Souffle as desert, which she says is one of the best that she has tasted Nice little touches too, like an unexpected chocolate mousse and madeleines served with the coffee. There is a good choice of wine at varying price levels and plenty of half bottles if like me, you need to drive later. The service is excellent too, attentive but not overwhelming. I...
It was a Saturday evening, we had not booked and the restaurant was fully booked but they managed to fit us in by sitting us at a table which is normally used as a serving station. This made life difficult for the servers but they were very cheerful about it and the service was excellent throughout. The cooking is fully up to Michelin Bib Gourmand standards. There is an excellent wine list and both the food and the wine are very reasonably priced for the quality you receive.
Le Margon is a pretty restaurant in an old street in Agen. The husband and wife who run Le Margoton are an excellent team. Monsieur with the kitchen and Madame in the restaurant. The food we have found excellent over a period of many years, the presentation and quality of the food entices us to always revisit. The restaurant is tranquil, everything happens smoothly, the service is excellent. We are happy to recommend.
Admittedly we were in a bit of a rush on this trip, but on the advice of a local colleague, five us dined here one evening, and I can assure you I will be back. The food was outstanding, and the kitchen staff obviously know what they are doing. The room itself is charming, quiet, and very well attended to. As I've said, this was a very enjoyable dining experience.
