An absolutely fabulous lunch! We were staying at an apartment nearby, and walked in at 1pm on a Saturday in October. No problem getting seated. The staff is very friendly. They speak little English, and my French is far from fluent, but we managed very nicely. The pleasant room is filled with art (most of it for sale). They have a wide selection of local wine, available for takeaway at a reduced price. We shared a Strasbourg-style pate, served with a wonderful onion confit. The decoration of the restaurant is trendy and cosy and creates a really nice atmosphere. The food, french/mediterranean is very good and has a lot of taste. We tried both the sepia and the duck breast and both were delicious. A lot of different flavours are present and the amount of food was perfect. Something really nice about the restaurant is the enormous amount of wine they have. You can taste a broad selection of wines and buy one or more bottles if you like it. I know this place since I worked in the area and it did not diminish its quality. The ingredients seem always fresh, the salads are huge and tasty, the magret de canard is really nice (oh, those french fries!!! , the tartare de boeuf especially in that slightly poêlée version is tasty. My usual choice goes to the seiches grillées salad which is lovely. It is a safe choice. Not in a very popular area but whenever I feel like taking someone out in a safe place or like returning for a nice (not festive dinner this is the place. The atmosphere is ok and the staff is very kind and welcoming.
We loved the food, the wine and the atmosphere of this restaurant. The service was excellent, they perfectly handled even our picky daughters. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of dishes that we picked from the menu. The highlight of the meals was the home made, creamy foie gras. Happened to be invited for dinner last night and I am in awe with the experience! Great recommendations of wines! Portion are generous! Good tapas starter which we shared! Server was great with her service! She remember our order and was efficient!
The choices are endless. You can either enjoy tapas or order food from the restaurant. They are all amazing. The wine list is also huge and the sommelier is there to guide you. Reasonable prices.
Good atmosphere, good food, good wine, and great dessert... A place to visit when being in Montpellier, a bit outside of the city with mostly local customers, you feel a real French experience.
