My wife and I went for dinner at Le Vieux this evening and had high hopes for it having read the majority of reviews on TripAdvisor. I can only assume we are living in a parallel universe as this was without a doubt, the single worst meal I have ever been served in a French restaurant. My first course (asparagus, a vegetable dear to my heart) was the blandest concoction of cream, tasteless vegetables and white asparagus. My wife's gazpacho was "okay but lacked seasoning and depth of flavour". We both ordered the Beef Tournedos with assorted vegetables on the side. The vegetables were passable in terms of texture but tepid and unseasoned while the beef was tougher than the sole of my shoe. I...

The Le Vieux Presbytere is the epitome of a local French restaurant that's off the beaten path and has good traditional meals. It's not fancy, but at the same time warm and traditional.Probably the best part for my wife and I was the service, the owner spoke perfect English and was amazingly nice. All of the food was good, I wouldn't call it gourmet but it was on part or better than most of the other meals we've had around St. Emillion. It was also very reasonably priced at €35 for a 3-course menu. My wife enjoyed the wine sampler menu also with 3 wines for €9.If you're in the mood for a French restaurant where the locals truly go, Le Vieux Presbytere is the place for you.

We parked our motorcycle outside and walked in off the street unbooked last saturday evening. We both had the Menu de plaisir meal at 28.00 euros and quite honestly it was one of the best meals we have ever had and at the price outstanding. It's a shame we were on the bike as I could have killed a bottle of red to go with it, as it was we spent a long time trying to work out how they had made a savoury creme brulee. Some one, on T/A said the waiter is dour, we thought he was just very efficient, helpful and appreciative of our reaction( but then we did vote remain).

We enjoyed this restaurant because it appeared to have a local feel to it, rather than being full of tourists. It is tucked away at the back of the church square and hence had a nice feel to it. Very little English was spoken by the two people serving (not a criticism but just be aware if you do not have confidence to try French). The food was good but not great as we both felt it was a little dry (lacking any form of sources or gravies). We recommend it and will certainly return on our next visit.

Located next to the church of Montagne this restaurant used to be the residence of the former priest. We are convinced that the quality of the kitchen has increased a lot since the previous owner left the building ! The food is really tops and the service impeccable. Weather permitting the outside terrace at the back of the restaurant is a must.Don't think you are the new owner when you receive the bill !! But after all we will come back.

We'd got a bit lost looking for a particular vineyard, which didn't matter as the scenery around here is stunningly pretty. Le vieux Presbytère was a lucky find, we wandered in without a booking. Our hosts offered a choice of tables inside or out. Outside was charming, a quiet courtyard lovingly cared for. Our light lunch was perfect. Flavours were excellent. The food was well prepared, the dishes excellent. We will go back.

After a hectic time in St Emilion we came upon this restaurant in Montagne. The had a table available and we enjoyed an excellent lunch there. The food was tasty, beautifully presented and the service was top notch. Very relaxing and enjoyable. A postscript: dog friendly they brought her a bowl of fresh water without us asking.

Situated close to the church in Montagne (a satellite of St. Emilion), this traditional restaurant offers high quality food, reasonably priced on the Prix-fixe menu. This was my third visit in the last 10 years, and the service and quality is very consistent.

If you're easily spooked, you might be advised to steer clear of the place- given the proximity to a graveyard. Overall pretty nice place with nice staff. Food was a bit of a mixed bag, with some good starters but just average main courses.
