Dined here in early September and intentionally arrived early. Parked up and whilst still daylight we had a walk by the Gironde before heading to Le Vitrezay.The restaurant is set back from the river and from our table we were able to watch the sun slowly set. We were on the lower ground floor area and I would recommend when booking that you ask if they have a table available on the upper floor or a ground floor window table. The Saturday night we were there the restaurant was very busy with a real mix of young families, couples and groups of friends. Despite being busy we were well looked after and appreciated their help at explaining things to us in English. Highlights from the menu for us...
I love this restaurant, we had not visited for a couple of years but were delighted to find the same standards. The food is superb staring with oysters a little out of the best season but still lovely. I wish I had the patience to make the shallot vinegar! Served traditionally with rillettes and sausage( representing the lunch enjoyed by oyster fishers) were lovely. Followed by lamb sorry to say well done English style( as requested) but simply delicious. My husband started with foie I know its wicked but..... served with ginger bread, delicious, followed by magret. Our other diners were equally happy with their choices. We were recommended to visit this restaurant by the owner of our villa we were renting...and first appearances can be deceiving, but don't be put off, the food and service is excellent. The only thing stopping me giving them the full 5 was the seats!! Solid wood dining chairs need padding if you are sitting for a couple of hours. The hotel next door (may be attached, I don't know) also does them no favours, it is in dire need of a spruce up! Food is top class wonderful fish dishes as you would expect in this location, we both had an assiette off the more expensive set menu which was as good if not better than many others we have had in France. Recommended.
We arrived at approximately 1.30, a dangerous time to arrive at a restaurant in France, and the waiter had to check with the chief that it was OK for us to dine there. Fortunately, as it was our wedding anniversary, he came back with a yes. The food was excellent and we had plumped for the mid range 19.50€ Menu. Mixed meat salad and smoked salmon salad to start. Prawns for my wife and rare steak for me. The carafe wine was good value but we felt that the Cognac to finish the meal off was somewhat pricey and was the only drawback. The views from the upstairs section over to the river are also quite good.

My husband and I had an evening meal at this restaurant last week. It is in a beautiful setting at the small marina. Go early and have a walk around the nature reserve or just sit and enjoy the gorgeous sunset.Inside and outside seating. The staff were friendly and efficient. The duck was cooked to perfection and the cod was so fresh it was almost sweet. The helpings are enormous so we can't comment on the desserts! For two mains and wine it was only 35 euros. We would recommend an evening meal at this restaurant without hesitation.
Living locally to this restaurant, we visit often. We are always made very welcome, and have a great dining experience. We picked from the set menu and chose the chefs specials, which were delicious, very good portions, great steaks, served with mushroom sauce, and fresh vegetables. The food was presented and cooked perfectly, and represented very good value for money. It's very popular with French locals too. We will definitely visit again before it closes for winter.
Menu a 38 euros , copieux. Excellent , service au top. Personnel très sympa et le jeune serveur très attentionné , le patron aussi très gentil Nous y avions déjà été il y a 2 ans et nous n'étions pas déçu et cette année également toujours satisfait donc je recommande ce restaurant sans hésiter si on cherche un hic , en terrasse le soir attention aux moustiques ils sont un peu nerveux mais hormis cela c'est parfait
Had an excellent dinner here last Friday, 30th June 2017. Food (lamb cutlets and wine Cotes de Blaye very good. Service very efficient and friendly. Great views of the Gironde Estuary from the first floor restaurant. Prices very reasonable and generous helpings. Menu and wine list cater for all tastes. Highly recommended. (If you are a dessert lover, try the cafe gourmand to finish......Yum! .

Well worth a visit. Great food and beautiful surroundings. Set meal good value and food well worth it. Also worth exploring the nature reserve whilst you're there.
