We were in town for an athletic event, and wanted a good local place to eat. A friend suggested Lena's and we are happy about going there. The atmosphere is a throwback to the 60's and 70's and was just comforting. Nothing flashy, but good people. It was nice to see a restaurant full of people and not one of them was staring at a screen. The food was spectacular. The wedding soup, salad, bread, meatballs, chicken parmesan, stuffed shells, and the key lime pie were all delicious, and makes us want to come back for more. And we will come back. Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent and friendly. Keep doing what you are doing Lena's and we will return.
Geesh I wish I had a more positive review however I only have one good thing to say and there calamari app was phenomenal and this used to be my favorite place to go buuuuuttttt it has really went downhill.. The meatballs , definitely not the same I couldn't even do a second bite ...they didn't have the roasted garlic which was the best ever. The sauce for the pasta was way way too sweet., the dressing was salty, and the stuffed pasta was horrible!!!. Unfortunately I used to brag about this place to EVERYONE. Now I doubt I will be back especially since our server tried to fix my meal but messed it up.
Old school, multi-generational family business using fabulous Italian family recipies. Lasagna delicious, vegetarian marinara and homemade noodles excellent, and did I mention the meatballs? Get two so you have one to take home with the rest of your pasta. Save room for dessert. The BEST coconut cream pie I've ever had. Great tiramesu. One night, they had an old family recipe apple pie that was out of this world. Again, the best I've ever had. This is my comfort place. The closest I can get to the feeling I had when my grandma cooked. Not fancy, but full of homemade love.
Best pasta in town! I have been coming here for many years and it is in my opinion the best pasta in town. The coleslaw is mighty fine too. In fact when my wife and I try coleslaw or pasta at other restaurant's we compare it to Lena's. The others don't compare. The sausage is my favorite protein option but the rest of my family love the meatballs. Give Lena's a try, of course if you're from Altoona you probably have already eaten here! 1st time eating here, been meaning to stop for months. I'll definitely be back. Food was excellent, service was excellent, my belly is full. What more could you ask for?
Took food home there was about 3 long hairs in it that wasn't mine. I pitched the entire dinner!!! Gross
