We enjoyed an outstanding meal here yesterday evening. It was a set menu with a choice of 3 starters, 5 main courses and 3 desserts or cheeses. The menu on a blackboard was all in French and the waiter was unable to translate the fineries of the dishes, but our fellow diners helped us out which led to a very convivial occasion. The house Sangria which was recommended as an aperitif was superb, containing rum and Cointreau as well as the red wine. That was served with a complimentary rillette with croutes. Excellent service, food and price-quality. The server was always happy to help and seemed to have an education in hospitality. The food itself was great as well, large portions which were of high quality, with an open kitchen, so we could see them working. While the open kitchen also added to the charm of the restaurant itself, which was very tastefully decorated. Overall I would say that it's a hidden gem that we were lucky to discover during our final evening in Saint-Jean-de-Monts. Especially considering we hadn't made a reservation ahead of time.
