In a foodie town with lots of options vying for the traveling gourmand, Les 400 Coups is an accessible, exhilarating & flavorful "must dine" in Old town Montreal. The design- forward setting blending seamlessly into the surrounding heritage environment, is classy, yet not off-putting or austere like so many establishments. Le chef Jonathan Rassi, nous a tout simplement impressionné. Menu peu élaboré, ce qui force à prendre des mets qu'habituellement on ne prendrait pas peut-être, mais c'était tout simplement à tomber à terre. Tous les plats étaient aussi bon les uns que les autres, de plus un service hors-pair, j'ai rarement vu une place qui a chaque fois que quelqu'un se levait, ils allaient replacer et plier la serviette de table. De plus un des serveurs nous expliquait exactement de quoi le mets était composé et comment il était apprêter. We organized our event at Les 400 Coups and we were not wrong in choosing this place. Everything was perfect, from the collaboration with the staff to the incredible culinary experience chef Rassi offered us. Creative meals, surprisingly great taste combinations, a perfect wine pairing done by a savvy sommelier. If ever you get a chance to try this restaurant, go for the cavatelli, they are soooo incredibly good!! I guarantee you will request for a second or third portion :) ! This was a fabulous restaurant- staff was helpful- drinks were innovative- food was delicious- only caveat is that menu is limited (only 10 items on the menu)- which means that every one is perfectly prepared and served- but, you might struggle if you have food limitations- also, portions are small- which, if you prefer large portions of food, would make this choice not the best for you- but, again, absolutely delicious food and lovely presentation
If you like creativity, taste, great meal, fresh local food, you are at the right place! First of all, one of the best service ever in Montreal. Veronique was in charge. A permanent warm smile and a permanent attention to the customer. We got the tasting menu: mise en bouche, Sea bream, Lobster, Beef gravlax, a pre-dessert, and a dessert, plus some extra bouchées: 75$. Large portions, perfect combination of tastes. A great experience.
Nous avons soupé entre amies à ce restaurant. La carte est très alléchante mais il faut savoir que ce sont des portions "tapas" donc assez petite ... finalement le plat à 30$ revient assez cher au final et ne vous suffira pas à moins d'avoir un appétit d'oiseau ! Nous avons opté pour le menu dégustation à 75$ et c'était vraiment très bon et très fin.
Places like this you can never go wrong with the tasting menu. All dishes were very well represented and tasted great. They even made an exception and let us add a sweatbread for a small extra fee, well worth, it was delicious.Enjoyed the wine pairings but found our table area pretty tight. Family event. We discovered the new menu. The flavors and textures were a wonderfully balanced mix. In addition, the service was exceptional. It's a small restaurant but definitely worth it. Absolutely nothing negative to say about this lovely evening enjoyed by all. Thank you.
