Les Forges De Pimpont

We dropped in for Saturday lunch and were immediately impressed by the ambiance a nice traditional feel complete with massive fireplace (with grill for preparing brochettes) and a stuffed wild boar's head rustic but also quite refined. We selected the Traditional set menu for 21 Euros. The starters set a high standard the gesiers salad was substantial with nicely (and lighlty) cooked gizzards with mushrooms, whilst the terrine was brought in a large dish from which you helped yourself, served with home made onion chutney. Both were delicious. For mains, the quail came in a little cast iron pot bathed in a delicious slightly sweet sauce, whilst the rabbit and game casserole was superbly rich...

Before to go there book a table this is my advice there are several menus on the evening with local products such asvenisson oysters etc....When we went there , the restaurant as no more table free. The service could appear long but to have a good ccoking you have to wait .....
