We did not stay here but visited the restaurant . Our experience was very much spoilt by the service. The lady who welcomed us and served us all evening ( in fact was the only person serving) after seating us commented that we had come to eat good food there because english food was so bad. We decided to drink wine by the glass as I wanted Rose and my husband wanted red. We ordered a second glass of Rose and the lady brought a different wine than I had first had and then argued with me when I refused to have it. She reluctantly served me another of the same but was obviously not happy as she had to open a new bottle to do so. The service was slow and although the food was OK the portion size...
This was part of an organised wine tour in st emillion, lunch should have been one of the highlights.Let's focus on the positive , quick and efficient service.Som people like duck as a course but not two courses in a row, did we have a choice, no that was all that was given. Both entree and the main. The main was again a roasted duck, beans with roasted sliced potatoes. I could not stomach anymore duck after the entree. My partner had a dessert but that was not good. Stopped in here on a Friday evening with no reservations. We found the place at random as we were driving around the area near where we were staying. The staff were extremely friendly and very willing to deal with our lack of French language skills....The food was very good I had a pasta dish and my husband had a steak. With wine and dessert I found the meal to be a very good value. I'd love to go back during the daytime when you could sit outside as the setting in the local vineyards is lovely.
We had a lovely meal a few days ago - couldn't fault it. Full of locals, a group of German tourists, and us.My French isnt that good but the staff were helpful and friendly - didn't make us feel stupid - as tends to happen sometimes in other restaurants. But - they did laugh when my husband ordered his steak well done!!!The terrace looked lovely but it was raining when we were there - so had meal inside. Nothing bad to say about this place.
We had lunch here last Saturday- and we were so impressed with the ambiance, views, menu and considerate service that we booked for dinner last night and an overnight stay at the Chambres D’hôtes too. It was fabulous, great food and wine, all very competitively...priced, and a very comfortable stay in the midst of vines with the best breakfast too. Thank you Laurence and the team, we will see you again.
On the busy mother's day booked for lunch. Beautiful terrace but super long wait: it took us 2 hours to eat a salad. The table near us was not ordered after more than an hour after sitting. We skipped the... Dessert and went inside to avoid waiting for an additional hour. The food was good, but the portions were too small. The service was right.
We came after 1:00 without reservation, but a table was available. The restaurant was very busy and full of locals enjoy the food. We enjoyed it too. Typical French country kitchen. Very brilliant host who spoke very good English and felt welcome.
OK Food and very off-hand service the type of place that is busy and the staff really don't care when you come back The Presbytery next door was closed I wish it had not been, it would have been better to go to our house and eat there.
