We first dined here 15 years ago and have returned fairly regularly ever since. The service and ambience today were good but the food wasn’t. The scallops starter was okay but unremarkable. I then had the salt crusted chicken. It was cold, slimey and completely...tasteless. The chicken was fatty and just awful. And there were no vegetables. Very disappointing and after all of these years the only bad dish I’ve ever had at this restaurant. I finished with the cheese board. It’s HUGE. Vast. Enough for at least two people and such a waste of food. It could be half the size. Very disappointing but perhaps the Les Merles ‘bubble’ has burst.
The food was delicious from start to finish. Special thanks to the chef for the adjustments as I am pregnant. The waitresses were really nice too, spend time with me to go through the menu to find out what I can eat. They even offered a special dessert for me as I couldn't have anything that was on the menu. I really appreciate it! The tables were at a good distance from each other and it was really nice atmosphere as they all lit candles when the sun sets. A special thanks also to the breakfast staff who are really thoughtful and willing to help. I recommend the restaurant.
Very classic french cooking with beautiful presentation, 3 set menus with small selection from the chief to choose from. We tried two different menus and everything on our plates was exceptional. Unfortunately the service was a little lacking, it was busy but had to find...someone to put wine glasses on our table after our main course arrived and then waited 40 minutes for the dessert after again chasing the waiters
What a great find. A little out of the way but a wonderful dinner in a cozy setting with really good food from the evening menu. Overall the food was well cooked, nicely presented with the occasional over and under of seasoning. Can't be beat...for the price for the quality. They also have a terrace and eating outside in the sun would be idyllic.
