For years I’ve been hearing about l’escale, a very upscale restaurant in Greenwich. It gets quite a crowd and I understand in the summer the outdoor terrace on the water is very well attended. Finally, I had the opportunity to eat there for dinner on a recent Saturday evening. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The place is really beautiful so I suspect that’s half the draw. The bar area is really great with small settee’s and chairs as well as very comfortable bar stools. I had great expectations for a fabulous evening, however, how is one to enjoy a drink or a meal when it’s 28 degrees outside and so cold inside the restaurant you have to sit with your coat on? David and his team put on, without question, the best Easter brunch I have ever experienced! The quality of service alone is worth a LOT more than we paid. I was very surprised at how fair the price was. I did not see the bottom of my glass once in 3 hours. I’m not shy about admitting I made around 6 trips to the buffet and I still cannot figure out how the staff, with a packed house, knew which trips were going to be dessert!?! Whenever I returned to the table with dessert, I came back to a cold dessert spoon waiting for me that was not there 30 seconds ago!
If your in Greenwich you have to check out L 'escale!!!! Great patio, great service and a great crowd!!! I went for Brunch which was absolutely lovely with thier unique and 'delish ' dishes, then joined them the following evening for Dinner and Drinks which was accompanied with live music!!!
Where should I start? l'escale is definitely my favorite place to hang in the summertime. They have this great patio that's on the water, so it's like the perfect place to soak up some sun over a glass of wine. The food is also incredible.
