We saw a brochure for this in the Seu D'Urgell tourist office, which of indicated that it was a restaurant but also mentioned a tour....kind of unclear. After calling ahead making sure we could do both, we went for dinner. It was great. Mr. Maura, the proprietor, gave the two of us a fascinating tour of his cheese-making shop, which is in an old stone building dating back centuries. Between his English my Spanish, we learned a lot about how different varieties of cheese are made, the (good) role played by bacteria and fungus in the process, how he is trying to be as eco-friendly as possible, how he got started making cheese late in life...he was very generous with his time knowledge. We were staying in the near of la Seu d'Urgell and we wanted to try local cheese. We were suggested to come to Formatgeria Mas d'Eroles. The quality of the food was excellent and the service was superb. The owner was very kind and he was very considerate. We defenetely would come back. El servicio es muy bueno y la calidad del producto excelente. El propietario muy atento a nuestras demandas. Sin duda repetiríamos. La qualitat del producte és boníssima i el servei va ser excel.lent.El servei per part del propietari va ser molt bo perque ens va fer diferents suggrriments. Estuve allí como parte de mi viaje en moto Gran Tour de Cataluña . El propio jefe nos dio interesantes ideas sobre el proceso artesanal de elaboración del queso. El pequeño equipo se dedica con pasión a la producción de queso y podrás saborearlo en cada bocado. Muchas gracias por esta interesante idea. On the road from Barcelona to Andorra or vice versa) is this little cheese place which makes great cheeses and has a restaurant to match. Salvador and David are wonderful hosts with simple tasty local produce complimented by fine wines and beers. Cheese is the highlight on many plates . For a morning or afternoon break , lunch or dinner you cannot just drive past . Look out for the cow!
