My son ordered the moules frites and when it arrived, it looked fine...until you got past the top layer of mussels and everything was still frozen. And when I mean frozen, I mean ice still clinging to the mussels (see photo). We pointed out to our server who I think may have been the owner that the mussels were frozen. She looked stunned and returned the pot back to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later, she returned the pot, thermonuclear hot. So hot that she could not even open the lid...so what does she do? She asked to borrow the napkins on our laps to open the lid. No apology and still charged for the plate of frozen mussels. Escoffier is rolling in his grave.
