A hugely disappointing experience in this picturesque location. After waiting for almost one and a half hours for our starters, and receiving gracious apologies from one of the chefs, which highlighted the lack of communication between front and back of house) the quality of the dishes served mostly failed to impress: foie gras served with three tiny round slices of rubbery, un toasted bread; platter for two with tiny portion of hummus, poor quality olives, a few slices of tasteless salami and a thimbleful of gaspacho. My family and I visited for my daughters 14th birthday. There were 5 of us the youngest being 5. We picked a table and sat down, there was no indication the table had been pre booked. The staff were just looking at us with no hello or anything. A waitress brought over a bottle of water but didn’t say anything to us. The restaurant was half full with lots of tables available, tables that arrived after us were getting served and were given menus before us. We had waited for 15 minutes by this time I was getting a little frustrated because the staff were looking at us and totally forgot ignoring us. We booked for 20h, i asked for pizza but was told no pizza so we both ordered chicken skewers and chips just after 20h30; at 21h40 we were still waiting for our meal; i asked how much longer it would be and was told at least 10 minutes . We were not prepared to wait any longer. Other clients had already complained about the unacceptable wait for food and suggested we also complain which we did. The chef,who we knew from her previous restaurant, came out on the offensive, blamed everything other than herself, was aggressive, rude and unapologetic- disgraceful. Came in for lunch for the Local village Vide Grenier (Garage Sale) and had the Fixed Menu; A choice of 3, 1 of which being a Vegetarian Menu.. Arrived at 13.15 and had a little wait before our order was taken and then had our starters about 15mins later.. Perfect entrees with Fresh ingredients and reasonable portions. Slightly long wait for the main course’s to arrive but agin well worth the wait, ample amounts of food and very well presented… When it came to dessert, a Homemade Strawberry tiramisu and choice of 5 flavors of ice cream.. All in all very happy with the service from Lucy and Marvin and will definitely come again.. Keep up the Good work !!!!!!

We had a lovely evening at L’estanquet on the 28th May and we found all the staff very friendly and helpful. Although, we do have to single out Robi who went above and beyond to attend to us despite the restaurant being fully booked and weather particularly rainy, so the outdoor terraces were somewhat out of action. However, she miraculously managed to conjure up a cosy spot for us outside but undercover so we really did end up enjoying a fabulous almost private dining experience. We have already recommended an advance wedding party to book a table at L’estanquet on the 13th July. Keep up the great work.
Last day of the grandchildren’s week long visit and the weather was cool and damp., so we booked a table for lunch, got there shortly after midday and settled down to a good lunch. The menu is varied the children wolfed down pasta bolgnese (aged 3 and 16 months) and we had very good pizza, but there were salads, steak, duck etc. it wasn’t long before the terrace and restaurant filled up. The staff were efficient and friendly inspite of being so busy, and we received our order quickly. There’s a small play area with swings and slide for kids too. Recommend booking.
Great little restaurant tucked behind the chateau. Great food, pliantly of choice. We had the camembert and meat platter to start which were fantastic, highly recommend the camembert. I had a pizza for main which was good but probably a waste with all the other things on the menu, a throw-away choice really. My father had the confit duck which looked great! For pudding I had the creme brûlée which was fantastic, and I also tried the lemon meringue pie, and the croustade which were both fantastic.
L’Estanquet has just this week reopened with new owners. They are working out a few minor issues (internet connection) but the food was excellent and the staff very helpful. A couple of pluses, not easy to find here in the Gers, are a good selection of vegetarian options and no alcohol beer. Can’t wait till our next visit!

Called in for lunch while visiting area. Food we all had was very good. Service was good and staff were very friendly. Restaurant is overlooking walled fortress. Good scenery while relaxing and eating lunch.
