nice setting nice service(from which the 3 stars ) against the kitchen does not unfortunately follow in any case tonight because it may vary from one cook to another. The rates are affordable certe but it doesn’t prevent to have a minimum waiting on the dishes.I’m a craft cook I think I can be objective (I don’t take myself for a chef just small simple things make the difference). the products are fresh for some and of good quality but a multitude of small things spoil the dishes and it is damage . entrance salmon lawyer ceviche. the huge and poorly detailed pieces raise salmon garlands, and black parts of the salmon that normally avoid serving ... not salted ... damage. the carpaccio served...
It´s always difficult to pick a place if you are in a town you don´t know. We picked the Hippocampe because we liked the menu, the pricing, the location and look. When we arrived it was very quiet, just one more table with tourists. Changed...very fast and the restaurant started to fill very quickly. The place seems to be popular, good sign. Efficient and fast service (friendly? Not sure), good food, bill as expected, We had menues, arrived quickly. Starters: fish soup was not really hot. Microwave? Still good. Very good tomato tatar! Main dishes good as well, forgot though what we had.
Having reserved a table, and found all the other tables taken when we arrived, we assumed we would have a good meal. 15 minutes later we were still waiting to be acknowledged. The waitress resembled a surly teenager. 45 minutes later we still had no...wine, no bread, and no starters . Two bowls of luke-warm fish soup finally arrived which we sent back, only to be told we were wrong! At this point we decided to leave. The bill included the soup, which we had not eaten, and the restaurant insisted we should pay for it. We left 10 euros for the aperitifs and left. Never again.
there are so many restaurants that choose in this city, so go where the masses are, is in the rule a good opportunity to choose. the day I went her meal is a couscous and 4 meat dish that was all the others at the place. to escape and that looked amazing. I didn't feel so many different meats, so I decided to fish formula. fish was perfectly cooked with a white sauce and there were some delicious grilled zucchini accompanied. dessert was a beautiful tarte pomme with a dab of whipped cream. service was excellent and the location directly on the water can not beat.

The three of us ordered three different kinds of seafood platters and we were not disappointed. The preparation was swift, the meals were perfectly cooked and the 50 cl bottle of rose was perfectly paired with our various seafood dishes. The large platters of gambas...and fish were served with rice and a small salad. The results were three clean plates, the sauces and delicate Provencal flavors having been mopped up with bread. As for price-performance, we all had wonderful meals for a fair price! We'll return to L'Hippocampe another day!
I visited this restaurant in august with my family while we were on vacation. we come every year after sanary in vacation and this is by far the best restaurant we have visited. the atmosphere was amazing and the service was excellent! the menu is...extremely varied. they can choose from fish, meat and moule. I ordered the moule and they were delicious! also the portions are extremely generous. I would definitely recommend visiting if they are in the opposite. they will not be disappointed!
Nice atmosphere overlooking the port, friendly welcome and staff were lovely with our children. Food was good but not amazing, came extremely quickly (on this occasion this was good as the kids were with us, perhaps why they were so rapid! . No complaints a fair...priced family meal.
But... Sanary is being extensively dug up which ruins the view and puts lots of dust on the tables. Had to send one starter back as not properly cooked but it was promptly and courteously replaced. Overall the food was interesting and tasty and service...good.

very nice selection of fish, seafood and mush in the 15-25e series, which we ordered together with white wine. the desserts were also very good.
really nice restaurant with views of the harbour. the best snuggles we had in France, and great employees. it is also a great value.
