What a fantastic little spot! We walked in around 2:30 PM on a Saturday, only to find out, much to our disappointment, that the kitchen had closed at 2. However, an older gentleman, who we later learned was Little Al himself, offered to make us burgers if we really wanted them. A regular customer chimed in, saying he makes the best burgers anyway. The venue is definitely a dive, so don't expect anything fancy—it's more of a beer and shot kind of place with room for about 30 people and a few tables. But those burgers were delicious, and I will certainly be back! The service was excellent; everyone was friendly and accommodating, and it's great to see an owner willing to cater to his customers...
Little Al's is everything a local neighborhood bar should be. The building is old and charming,when you enter it's like you're stepping into another time. The proprietor is a delightful gentleman and veteran who makes you feel at home and if you are lucky enough to be there when he is tending the bar you are likely to hear some colorful tales. (Ask about the monkey his father brought to the mother superior's office. The drinks are reasonably priced as is the food. I would stand the burger up to any in the area at less than half the price in most cases. Great place.
I've been going here for 23 years..used the pay phone to call my real estate agent to close the deal on my first and only house....the first business I solicited in Mokena (when Mokena was rural). Since smoking was banned, the place is even better....try the super burger!!!.. i know people from Mokena who have no idea it's there...sad. Great place. Al is the man..Cheryl is awesome.
The nicest man owns this place. Today was my first time there and I was very satisfied. I got the Joey Burger (blue cheese burger) with fries and it was awesome, and only $4.50 . He told me to come back on Wednesday because he makes the sauce and meatballs for spaghetti Wednesday. Do not except a big new bar because this an old time dive bar for sure, but I loved it. This restaurant is quite unappealing. It's cramped, has a strong odor, and is poorly lit even during the day. Al's is a MAGA-themed bar with a menu so limited it could fit on a couple of bullet points on a whiteboard. The clientele mostly consists of elderly veterans who spend their time grumbling about Obama and communism. Honestly, it's just not my scene.
A straightforward spot with outstanding service and delicious food! The beer is served ice cold, the Bloody Mary is fantastic, and the burgers? Unforgettable! Definitely worth the $5.25! We'll be coming back regularly from now on!
If you are a United States Marine, then this is a place you need to visit and say HELLO and Semper Fi to Al the owner.... Never had other than a GREAT experience here.....Oohrah!!
Little Al is a great person. Loves his town. Shops locally for the bars food. Makes everything fresh daily. The atmosphere isn't welcoming, but try take out! It's very very good! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Went when Al was there and the steak night was amazing very good well seasoned especially for the price! Went back but steak was no longer available and I guess new owners.
