We tried this place for the first time for a pre-theater dinner. It's very small and we noticed right away that the ventilation must not be working properly because it was a little stuffy and smokey. We stood at the entrance for a few minutes, waiting to be greeted when finally the bartender/manager came over to seat us. Mind you, he was just standing there talking while we waited. Don't let us interrupt you! Foodwise...my companion had the burger and fries and said it was well seasoned and delicious. I had the pasta special which cost $28 dollars. Local on north was a Pleasant Experience overall. The food was exceptional I would rate it 4.8/5.00 couple of items were sold out even though we got there before the dinner rush, aside from that the Bang bang shrimp was nice and freshly made with tender shrimp. Entrées where well presented and both of the fish dishes we tried were tasty and fresh, only taking .2 points off for the skin not being crispy on both plates. Service was great. Local is the best food and best deal in downtown Duluth hands down. The ambience is not great it is typically crowded and noisy and the interior is nothing special and tables are seated very close together. However, the food is pretty consistent. You can get a nice, hot, tasty meal and a good cocktail or nice glass of wine and not break the bank. You get what you pay for here decent service and food in a neighborhood restaurant. Too bad there are not more restaurants like this downtown or in the Duluth area in general. The other restaurants close by do not compare. They are higher priced with lackluster food at best. This restaurant is an amazing spot. I don't often write reviews but I feel inclined to for this spot. I've been frequenting local on north for a few months and their food is addicting. Their salads a full of topping and no bites are just lettuce. The added meat is a full 6-8 oz portion of steak/fish/chicken on the side. Fantastic! The restaurant was very accommodating to our changing number of guests and time alterations. The food was outstanding! From the goat cheese croquettes, meatballs, beet salad, wings, and 007 burgers to the pork chop, salmon sandwich, chicken sandwich, and fries, everything we ordered was delicious. We all enjoyed our meals a lot!
This restaurant has a cozy small town vibe and offers warm southern hospitality that makes you feel like you're amongst old friends. The atmosphere is fun and the food is incredible! I had the best Paella of my life here, and they even substituted trout when they ran out of Red Snapper. This place is a must-visit!
Thanks to the team at Local on North for excellent dinner on Christmas Eve. Service team really helped make evening special with family. Kitchen was buzzing and made some delish food from apps to dinner. Appreciate being open on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas.???
A great dinner with our adult children, Local on North never disappoints. The menu is updated but still has our favorite chicken, pork chop, paella, and burgers. Great bar drinks and we were not rushed to 'turn over ' a table. Can 't recommend enough! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
AMAZING vibes! The owner/bartender was fabulous! He was personable, knowledgeable, lighthearted, and a conversationalist. My drink was SUPERB and pretty (which is a plus)! The shrimp tacos red beans are a must have.
