The food at this restaurant was quite good. I tried the chicken and BBQ chicken tacos and found them tasty. I particularly enjoyed their salsa, although I wasn't a fan of the tortillas. The Margaritas were also delicious -my husband ordered the spicy one, while I opted for the Jamaican (hibiscus flavor). Overall, I would recommend this place. It was a charming little restaurant with excellent service. Our server was very helpful and patient, even engaging in some Spanish conversation with my husband, who is learning the language. It's definitely a family-friendly establishment located a couple of blocks away from our hotel in the Chelsea area of Boston.
To start, on a 98-degree day, this restaurant has no air conditioning!! The quality of their food is equivalent to low-grade dog food. It seems to be true that the further you get from Mexico/California, the worse the Mexican food gets. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the chips and salsa and the drinks. We spent over $100 on terrible food. The entire staff, including the kitchen, was Hispanic, and there were at least two tables of Hispanic customers. Why didn't any of them bring their grandma to come and show the cook how to make proper Mexican food? Save your money and avoid this place.
In general, Los Agaves' food is consistently good. We have visited three times and tried a variety of dishes. The Molcajete, Huaraches, quesadilla, and tacos were all great, though the chicken mole was a bit too spicy for our taste. The red salsa was delicious, while the green salsa was just okay. The portion sizes are generous for the price, and the drinks are reasonably priced. The service is good, although it can be a bit slow at times. Overall, we highly recommend visiting Los Agaves as it is the best Mexican food we have had in the area.
I visited this restaurant before catching a flight and had a fantastic experience. It wasn't crowded when I arrived around 2pm on a Thursday. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and authentic, and the prices were reasonable. I ordered one birria taco, one Al pastor taco, and one carne asada taco. They were all tasty, but the carne asada was my favorite with its amazing flavors. I would definitely return to this restaurant. I didn't have any trouble finding street parking. Charming, spacious, modern Mexican place with some of the best birria style tacos I've ever tasted, tender well seasoned stew meat melting into an authentic double corn tortilla with a decadent jus for dipping. Impressive cocktail menu featuring upscale mojitos and margaritas as well as Mexican inspired versions of martinis and other classics. Everything tasted freshly made rather than reheated. The aguachile is a must-try dish! It's definitely worth it if you are feeling hungover. The service was excellent and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was top-notch. I highly recommend dining in for lunch. The price per person ranges from $20 to $30. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive a perfect 5-star rating.
