We visited this restaurant twice for lunch in the summer of 2013 and had menus at both €29 and €39. I realise that this sort of price is not the usual menu du jour price in many small French restaurants but, as always in life, you get what you pay for. The restaurant is part of the hotel of the same name and is to be found in the Logis de France directory. Reading the other reviews, I can see that we were in the minority in our reaction here. We stopped here for the last night of an 80+-mile randonnée from Le Puy toward Alès. We raced the last 3 km to outrun a thunderstorm on an open logging path down from the medieval castle of Portes. Arriving tired and wet, we found the owner/chef preoccupied with the time of our early departure the next day (forced by a train strike) and unwilling to move our luggage up to our rooms or to find someone to do it (we are both women in our 70s). Hello, we spent a 10-night stay very pleasant, quiet in a charming hotel with red brick, typical of the region. our host feasts on us throughout our 10 dinners, with its inventive, varied and high quality cuisine. m. stéphane abbe, a well-known chef knows how to highlight all seasonal products, and present aperitif and colored plates. I spent 3 very pleasant nights in this guesthouse. The new owners are friendly and welcoming, which made my stay even more pleasant. The rooms have been recently renovated, they offer quality bedding, which allowed me to rest well. Everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was generous, with fresh and varied products. An upcoming renovation is still planned. I would not hesitate to come back and I recommend this place.
The building is located in a magical place surrounded by nature. The owners are very friendly. Excellent meal, everything is cooked with fresh and local products. The breakfast is copious with different breads, and several homemade jams. The room is very clean and the bedding comfortable. I recommend this place.
What a superb meal with entertainment by our host. If only it was nearer to England.We discovered this hidden gem while on a motorcycle tour of France,one night and one meal was not enough.
