Visited this place because my kids only like eating spinach pizza from this place with the buttery crust. This was my first visit to this location. I called ahead and placed my order, a large thin crust extra cheese and spinach cooked well done. Keep in mind I am about 30-40 minutes from home. While there I had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes for the pie to bake even after the original bake time. It was already so late I didn’t even bother checking the pizza before I left I just knew that it was hot temperature wise. Oh my lord. Okay, so, I've never had pizza like this. I've had west coast pizza, I've had New York style in New York, I've had other deep dish pizza, but this? I had no idea what i was missing. I ordered simple, just pepperoni, mushroom and fresh basil, I swear I could smell the basil as Anthony brought the pizza to me. The sauce is amazing with just a hint of star anise (not too much which is a common mistake) which made the sauce pop. Perfect blend of cheeses, flavorful pepperoni, piping hot. I'm not a huge pizza fan but I persuaded myself. From the first to the last bite pizza was excellent. Tomatoes tasted like tomatoes, mushrooms like mushrooms ... I can certainly say that really high quality products were used. We ordered pizza to deliver home, I was surprised that it arrived on time. I look forward to seeing the restaurant in person. Absolutely delicious and recommendable pizza.
As stated in another review im not from Chicago. My buddy that lives here told me Lou's was the place for pizza so we went. I greatly prefer this over the other big name pizza place in Chicago! The crust is not nearly as much bread and is so buttery and crispy. The sausage they put on top of the pizza is delicious! Fried mushrooms are also fantastic if you have room for an appetizer. Food is fantastic. I ordered a Peroni and after a long while the serve came back to say they do t carry them (it is clearly listed on the menu) I opted for a Blue Moon and it was really awful as though it was way past its prime. Biggest negative is the bathroom. As someone who suffers from vertigo the tile job made me sick to my stomach.
FINALLY TO THE SOUTH SIDE. Its nice to have a deep dish pie every once and while. Always good. Great phone staff. They knew our last order and made sure we got the butter crust. The pizza is a little pricey but well worth it.Overall grade B+
Our pizza was amazing and serves was excellent!! I am gluten-free and appreciated the menu was labeled and I had more than 1 option. We are from out of town but definitely be back next time we are in the area
