My husband and I decided to go out to Lucky's Buffet Restaurant for lunch. We were a little apprehensive to dine here, judging by our last visit couple of years back, when we came for dinner and how we both talked about the quality"of the food, and how it was cooked etc, etc. We decided to see if things had improved... Unfortunately, things have not improved in the quality of the cooking and the quality of the food!We both commented how fatty the food looked and tasted, so we stuck to things like grilled salmon, salads and some of the chicken etc. We finished off our lunch with apple crumble and ice cream which was really really sweet and gave you one big sugar rush. I have been going to the Merit Buffet for about a year. The chef is not cooking the fish enough and leaves them uncooked or barely cooked. I have become sick with “Delhi belly” twice but kept reminding myself that this is not India but Australia and we have hygiene laws here. Obviously the chef and his workers don’t abide by these rules. This buffet is serving prawns that have white colour not red and they must be cheap imported items from Asia (Thailand or Vietnam). I know the Merit Buffet must be having economic problems but cutting corners on hygiene and serving junk as food has me vowing to never go back there again. We live in Croydon Park near Ashfield and occasionally visit Lucky Buffet Restaurant when we are not in the mood for cooking. I recommend visiting on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday because the price drops to AUD$ 12.50 per person. The ("Asian") buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of food, from warm dishes like lemon chicken and nasi goreng to a complete salad bar. Some dishes are perfectly fresh, others somewhat less; is all depends on what time you visit the restaurant. Don't come here for the atmosphere, it is just a large mess hall with cheap tables and chairs. This would have to be the worst waste of money! The food was alternatively frozen and reheated or so overcooked and oily that it was inedible. The "fresh" prawn shells were soft and on the smelly side - horrible, horrible, horrible. If I could have been bothered I would have reported this eatery to the Food Authority. When we mentioned to the club manager of duty how dissappointed we were he shrugged it off with "it's not our restaurant - they just lease the space". Won't ever go back and won't ever recommend

Too tired to cook and wanted to check this out. It was like something from a Fellini movie. People were loading their plates with piles of main courses and desserts all in one. i wondered why and then realised all the food was so bad that you couldn't tell the difference anyway between main course entree and dessert. STAY AWAY FROM HERE
Best buffet I have ever been to.....I have been to Harvest buffet Sydney casino.....star buffet all of of them.....the Hilton buffet....tower buffet.....Merritt buffet Ashfield Sydney.....absolute best fresh quality food and amazing prize....I out it above all other buffets I have visited.....superb superb service and food.
Arrived last Saturday quite late and paid close to 50.00 to eat at the lucky buffet.Many of the bays were empty and the ones that were not it became apparent very quickly why they were not empty. The food was sad cold oily overcooked and tired.
Hey at $12.50 this was great value and just what we needed. All you can eat, mostly tasty and heaps of it. Friendly staff and helpful. For a great cheap Monday night feast, get yourself there. Plus cheap beers too, can't complain about that.

Plate and cutlery were oily and dirty, very disgusting! The foods were terrible, very bland.. One of the worst if not the worst buffet restaurant I have ever visited. Very disappointing dining experience.
Pretty good for the priceI ordered a cesar salad ($14) as a take away and requested the dressing be put on the side ( I was craving salad, don't ask).
