Our visit to Lucky Cricket was great. Our server (I believe it was Jasmine) was so friendly, helpful and fast. She made great suggestions, which we chose from for both cocktails and a bunch of sharing plates. The mushrooms and lettuce wraps from the sharing section of the menu were amazing. I keep dreaming of the savory, saucy mushrooms which we spooned over rice to absorb the amazing sauce. We had a mandarin chicken noodle bowl that was also super tasty. The chicken was amazing, but noodles were a little on the indulgent side in combination with the fried mandarin chicken. The cocktails were all outstanding and had really fun touches like pop rocks in one and micro edible flowers in another...
We went on Sunday afternoon. They have a unique Sunday noon to 6 pm menu for $18 per person. It is all you can eat but one menu item at a time. The menu items are the same size as the evening menu, and there are plenty of choices. I had three items: wonton soup, pan fried dumplings, and Korean fried chicken. All were excellent, and by then I was full. Bigger eaters have a choice of about fifteen items, and you could, in theory, have them all. I had never had Korean fried chicken, and I was interested because we are going to Korea in April. It is a lot like southern fried chicken, except that it has a honey glaze. They are really trying. The interior decor is great, the waitstaff seems nice, the menu options are varied and unique. Unfortunately, it's not really working. 1. The food was all overly seasoned and mostly SALTY 2. The waiter made a few mistakes like forgetting about drinks (for the kids when they are super thirsty from the salt and spice), forgetting our leftovers in the kitchen 3. Happy hour menu was a cheap print out from the computer with notes from the waiter. Why isn't it on heavy duty card stock and looking more like a normal menu? We've been there three times now and unfortunately, I'm not feeling like I'm in a hurry to return.
The food was average, with one person getting a dish that was too salty to eat. The staff did replace it. The restaurant was quiet because almost no one was there. The ambience was less than great as the staff were watching the vikings game at high volume both in the bar and the party room. Had a Valentines Day dinner there. Server was very competent and they had a good deal for holiday. Signature drinks were good and my girlfriend especially liked the Tiki drink. It is worth the visit.
Had a great cocktail and good meal at the revamped Lucky Cricket. Lamb dumplings, spicy cucumbers (though not really spicy), and forbidden rice were the stand-outs.
The decor was fun and entertaining. The service outstanding. The food unique and tastey....a bit spicey. We will come back again.
