Looking for a different breakfast option in the Prahan area we checked out TripAdvisor and found the Lucky Penny. What a brilliant find!!! Our group of 4 had different breakfasts and we could not fault any of them. They offer some different takes on the classics as well as some choices which we hadn't come across such as Texas Breakfast Tacos. The Pulled Pork Benedict had a Chipotle Hollandaise which was perfect for the dish as it balanced what is normally a rich dish, the bacon side was too tempting to ignore. Fantastic friendly service, excellent coffee, really nice venue with great music in the background. Thank you Lucky Penny and TripAdvisor for this amazing find. Pity I cant rate 6 out...
We visited Lucky Penny yesterday and it was all things exceptional.Firstly we could actually make a table booking for brunch on a Saturday. Simple, easy and friendly. Secondly, extremely friendly service from all staff helping with our table, orders and suggestions on the menuThirdly, our meals were all served at the same time. They were generous portions, had so much flavour and presented beautifully. The Apple Pie Waffle dish my friend ordered - a work of art! Overall we had a lovely brunch here and I would definitely recommend this cafe to all!Thanks for having us, cant wait to return!
we were so happy with our meal we came here x2 during our Melbourne stay. Owner/host is extremely friendly, took a genuine interest in our holiday visit, gave us tips and friendly advice. More importantly we thought the food was inventive, creative, delicious and well suited to the cafe setting. The coconut chicken salad was one of the best meals of our trip (!) and the breakfasts are hearty and delicious -- can't go wrong. We would happily go back!
The service here was the best ever- really friendly and helpful for our first girls weekend in Melbourne. So good, that we went back twice for breakfast.Stand out dishes were the bubble and squeak (amazing bacon!) with real piccalilli, the super bowl (the first bowl my daughter has ever entirely finished), milkshake and crumpets with lemon curd. Had an enjoyable breakfast here. The waiter warned us upfront about a delay in ordering due to catering a large event the night before - much appreciated. The coffee cured Tasmanian salmon was very good - had it with the scrambled eggs and smashed avo. Friendly staff and quite a social place.
We went for Saturday breakfast after searching the street for a closed venue that we had visited last year. took a chance, sat outside and loved it. the heaters were on and even though it was a cold day, were fine. Food and atmosphere were great. nice coffee too
I love being able to find things on a menu that I haven't tried before. I found the menu for the Lucky Penny cafe really inventive and appealing. I had coffee cured salmon with pumpernickel bread. The plating was beautiful.

This was awesome. Chipotle Hollandaise sauce was delicious, house made crumpets were soft and perfect. Pulled pork was tender as you'd expect. Even had some greens so it had the right food groups.
