As soon as we walked in, the first aisle to the left revealed several racist items. While encountering such items isn't unusual in an antique shop, just a few steps further, we stumbled upon even more offensive pieces. We opted to leave, but as we walked back towards the exit, we encountered even more troubling items in the next aisle. I understand that various vendors have different products, but the store could easily enforce a policy against selling items that depict racial stereotypes in exaggerated and dehumanizing ways. The soda fountain itself is a delightful throwback to the 1950s, a time when hamburgers were just 23 cents, and girls wore poodle skirts, bobby socks, and saddle shoes. I tried the Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious—“c’est magnifique,” as they say in French! One highlight was a sign in front of one of the stools at the fountain that stated: “The stool in front of this sign was once occupied by John F. Kennedy before he became President. You really don't find places like this anymore, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover it while wandering around Milwaukie in 2017. Unfortunately, I didn't try anything from the soda fountain because I was still digesting a meal from Libbie's down the street. However, the Collectors Mall was fantastic. They offered a great variety of merchandise, from comics and pop culture items to random antiques. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Don't make the same mistake I did—be sure to get a fountain drink while you're there!
The owner and employees are incredibly rude and discriminatory. The entire place has an unpleasant and smoky odor. While they have a few interesting items, it's not worth the poor treatment I've received. I feel strongly that they should see a genuine depiction of Jesus and his disciples dining, as they seem completely unaware of its significance! Honestly, I wouldn't give them even a single star! There is no shortage of vintage and thrift stores in the Portland area, but Main Street collectors was a particularly nice one. There's a small soda fountain in the back that serve sandwiches and shakes. We didn't have anything to eat, but will be back to grab some food and check out all of the awesome knick knacks up for sale
This place has an incredible variety of options, truly a lot to choose from. They serve some of the best milkshakes in Portland. The only downside for me is the pricing, but it’s one of those situations where if you’re not keen on it, that’s fine. Overall, I highly recommend checking it out!
A fantastic place with a great atmosphere. They offer a wide selection of both antique and modern items. There's even a charming old-fashioned milkshake and sandwich counter where you can sit down and savor your meal.
