I have visited Malt Pier a few times since their opening. I love their breakfast menu. The avocado on hummus with dukkah and feta served with toasted pita is delicious. So are the corn fritters with tasty condiments which I had with a side of bacon. The lunch menu offers quality standard lunch fare like steak sandwiches with fries, and then bigger meals such as beef cheeks on mash -yum! Coffee was good. The service was excellent every time. The only ongoing challenge will be parking, particularly on weekdays. There are only a couple of half-hour bays outside. Nearly office workers take up all the nearby parking. Weekends should have easier parking.
Recently, my wife and some friends enjoyed a visit to Malt at Newstead and were amazed at the points of difference on the menu. This is not your standard menu. Braised lamb shoulder with mushy peas, beef cheeks, pulled pork burger. All mouth watering reading. The restaurant is small, relaxed and clean with fast but not in your face service. The kitchen , spotless. I will be back for the Beef Cheeks having really enjoyed the lamb shoulder. Thank you Malt
We went for lunch and the service was great from the minute we walked in. The chicken wings for entree were beautiful then I had the beef short rib which was so tender and the Asian salad that went with it was divine, my partner had the fish of the day which a bit fishy for me but overall the food was fantastic.We wanted to try the desserts because they looked so good but we were too full. We will definitely come back and try more.
Great service, great set up and amazing food. Between us we had the shoulder of lamb, beef short rib, blueberry tart and the brownie. All of it was fantastic and excellent value for the quality of food. The place is only small so it's worth booking.

Loved the food and the location of Malt. It's like a hidden gem away from all the hustle and bustle! I had the beef cheeks and they were delicious. Definitely on the more expensive side for lunch, but totally worth it.
