Changed owners 2 months ago! From Mexican to Salvadoran whole different menu in person, not what we saw online! My friend and i were craving sweet breakfast and saw an a menu online with multiple options so called to make sure the place was open, they said yes. Upon arrival, all doors are locked and we call again the waiter picks up and says yes we are open, we are standing outside and we tell him, well your doors are locked. Then he opens it. He sits us, serves us waters and chips with salsa. As we look at the menu, we realize it 's not the same thing we saw online! They use the same name of the prior café that was here, it 's a Salvadoran restaurant now. They even had photos of the past Me...
Me and my partner decided to stop here this morning for breakfast/brunch. The website that we found looked fantastic and we were pretty excited to try some place new. We walked out beyond disappointed. The menu was completely different then what we had seen online, and unfortunately due to language barriers and the layout of the menu I was unsure as to what I actually ordered.Our food came out on wooden plates, though it’s a cute twist on serving food, makes me weary in the wake of COVID. You have to try the enchiladas! I had never experienced Salvadoran cuisine before, but this restaurant is conveniently located on my way home. The prices are reasonable, and the takeout service was friendly. My child and I ordered tamales, pupusas, and enchiladas. The tamale was sizeable and had a generous chunk of chicken in it. The pupusas were flavorful; I enjoyed the loroco, but I preferred the chili pupusa more. The true highlight was the enchiladas—unique, delicious, and with a fantastic texture. Just a heads-up: this restaurant is entirely different from the one that existed a year ago, although they kept the same name. I will definitely be ordering from here again!
I stopped by recently with some friends to try it out, and it's definitely worth a visit. I ordered two bean and cheese papusas and yucca fries with chicharrón. I'm always excited to see chicharrón on the menu and the portion with the yucca fries is really generous and flavorful. The papusas I had were great and I'd definitely get them again. Fantastic restaurant for a leisurely meal! My first experience with Salvadoran food (and second! is here at Mama Lupita's. The menu has been updated to reflect the cuisine of El Salvador including must-have papusas and delightful empañadas con leche. The food is prepared carefully and the employees make excellent recommendations if you are trying it for the first time.
The food was awesome! It's so hard to find authentic food without going downtown and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a tiny little place and I think it was the owner who took care of us and also made the food. We will DEFINITELY be back again.
I went there today at 10:45 and it was not open, no sign explaining why. Doors both say 9am. There was someone in the back, but the place was dark and locked. If you can't be bothered to open on time, I sure can't be bothered to come back.
