I'll start with the positives. The interaction I had on Facebook to book a table, and then change the booking, was very positive. The two young waitresses who served us were great. The pub is shabby with rubbish and cigarette butts scattered outside the door...and a smell of smoke in the doorway. The décor is tired and tatty, and the bench seat in the restaurant area has a big split in it. The floor of the restaurant had bits of food and other rubbish on it. The salt and pepper and vinegar bottle didn't look like they'd been cleaned for a few days. The food was uninspiring, and mostly overcooked. Today, a group of us decided to have a quick lunch at The Manvers Arms. We were all very pleased with our experience as it was excellent. One of us chose the Manvers Arms Burger, another opted for the Halloumi Fusion Burger (a veggie option), and the last person ordered the hand-battered haddock and chips. All of the dishes were cooked to perfection and were generous in portion size. The presentation was also very impressive. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and had a cheerful atmosphere. We frequently visit this restaurant and had a fantastic experience today. The food was cooked perfectly and the servers were friendly and attentive. We came on Mother's Day and were impressed by the food and service, especially the extra touch of a complimentary biscuit with 'mum' iced on it. Stumbled upon this gem whilst on a bike ride. Sunny but windy day so decided to eat inside. Kath/Cath greeted us very warmly and showed us where we could safely lock our bikes and then she placed our wine right next to the roaring fire!...Bliss after a windy bike ride! Food delicious and fuelled us for our journey home. Will definitely return. Plenty of room inside and out.
Wow....what a lovely meal. Fish and chips was delicious....hubby had steak and Stilton pie full of meat and absolutely lush. All the staff are friendly....lily was our waitress she was very helpful and professional. What a lovely village pub and restaurant. This is our local...thankfully.
great Sunday lunch. the last of the bark and the cauliflower cheese! we didn't eat it all, but we gave it our best shot and I'm sure others would make it. also drinks a reasonable price. I love the possibility of a Sunday roast ciabatta as. an alternative. service was friendly.

We randomly decided to stop for a pub lunch and are so glad we did. Our hostess, Cat, was wonderfully attentive and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was great, with plenty of parking and a fantastic selection of gin.
