Don’t go here. Don’t listen to the locals who think it’s okay. It’s not I’ve been coming here for ages. After the fire it went down hill bad. They left me sitting for 45 minutes waiting for my food that I ordered over the phone. Told me 20 minutes, came in nothing was ready. People come here to get drunk at the bar and order mediocre Italian food. I was just going here for grilled chicken to put with a salad. Oh and not to mention for grilled chicken and broccoli it’s 52 dollars. The girls at the front constantly gossip, and are rude and act like it’s you’re the one being rude when asking when your food will be ready. The only reason why I even put stars on this place is because I had no choice. I was searching for a place open on Christmas Day for dinner since we had just moved literally two days before and didn’t have time to prepare anything for the holidays. Mario’s came up as open on Christmas Day taking reservations. A few of the earlier times said booked, so I made reservations for 7PM. We drove all the way over there, which is not close by the way. And it’s closed! I don’t understand how a restaurant does not update their holiday schedule and allow reservations to be booked on a day that they’re closed. Have loved it here for many years. Sadly not at the moment. Staff needs training. Servers repeatedly forgot requested items then one simply dropped them on the table with a sorry afte 2 requests and 20 mimute wait. Then when we were nearly done they brought it. Servers not familar with menu items. Soda gun needs cleaning (moldy taste on seltzer). This is not the pre fire Setauket Mario 's we knew and loved. Music was so depressing cut after cut of 70s drab hits weird. Bar and seats were empty on a holiday Friday at 830? That might tell you all you need to know. Please train staff. Greeters and wait staff are all very friendly and helpful. The bar and kitchen needs a little help. We received summer sangrias that were nothing more than watered down fruit punch and the chicken Marsala was made with what looked and tasted like canned beef gravy. Love going on Friday night and sitting at a bar table. They have music. Food is delicious and wine is good too. Service is always with a smile. We had a horrible experience all of our orders were wrong or incomplete and we had to wait an extra long time for our meals. We came here with our family After a wake and we had a private room with 13 people, the people treated us with such respect and dignity during a difficult time. The food is tasty and the waiters are friendly. The portion sizes are huge so worth checking with the waiters before ordering. If you get a table close to the bar, it might be noisy. The WORST dining experience we ever had!! Food ice cold, service extrememly slow, restaurant was relatively empty, the manager was uncaring and extrememly insincere!! Will NEVER return to Marios.
