Not bad..... Had dinner here on Friday night. It was OK, the food was pretty well executed and the portions were huge. I had the Fish Chips with grilled fish, and while I couldn 't fault it (or finish it... it wasn 't that memorable. Maybe that 's down to what I chose though? Mind you, the general consensus around the table was the food was 'nice ' but that was about it.<br/ <br/ One big tick for the service- my partner didn 't like the glass of wine he chose... and then drank half of it in trying to decide if it was 'off '. The newest pub addition to the Illawarra Road strip in Marrickville is a glittering beacon of bling in between Banana Joes and the hole in the wall Marrickville Pork Roll shop. The space was formerly a hokey arcade that housed a shoe shop and Vietnamese cafe. When the owners of the struggling Henson Park Hotel finally won approval to transfer their licence to this new premises, they gutted the entire arcade, converting the space to a family oriented gastro pub. It's a huge shift for Marrickville, traditionally dominated by pho noodle houses that close by 9pm, reflecting the changing demographic of the area. The Ritz truly has had a glizty makeover and the place looks a lot more inviting that it used to be, within open shop front where people can sit and eat and inside it nicely renovated with chairs, stools and tables in a large wide dining area. The place looked very suitable for families to bring their kids to eat, and there were a few families eating there whilst we were there. We ordered at the bar poured ourselves some water and sat down at a table towards the front and awaited our meals. How things change, but also stay the same. I've been trying to support the ritz since it opened. Finally they might have the food formula bang on! Chicken burgers are superb! Some staff not quite there yet even though they've been there for some time. I feel a lack of connection with the staff vs other local hangouts. They don't seem happy and imo bring the place down a bit. Atmosphere is great though when busy and I can now confidently say I'll be back. Please please please don't change the food again any time soon!

Delicious food and great service. We went early on Thursday night for dinner with the kids and all had the surf and turf special. It was delicious and great value at $15. Live music was good, service was fantastic. A great evening out with the kids. We'll be back to try the kids eat free special on Sundays.
Visited for lunch with a friend. Despite it being surprisingly empty we enjoyed a pleasant meal. Loved the mac and cheese croquettes. Steak was perfectly cooked to order with an excellent pepper sauce.(steak presentation was questionable). Service was friendly and cheerful. Would return.

This inner west sydney pub is okay for a big crowd or function, but lacks the ambience for anything more intimate. The food is average but the party platters are generous.
Decent food and good specials on different days. Comfortable and a good atmosphere.
