For our 14th anniversary dinner, my wife and I returned to a reliable favorite. Masona Grill is that rare place where I can honestly say neither we nor anyone we have ever brought with us has ever once had anything less than a fabulous meal and experience. No frills, no pretense a true neighborhood restaurant, serving genuine Peruvian food, expertly prepared. The owner, Manny, is nearly always present when we are there, circulating from table to table, explaining the dishes, and pushing his extraordinary (and extraordinarily hot! home made hot sauce. We love this place, and cannot recommend it more highly. Oh, and it is convenient both to Boston and the western ‘burbs. Give it a try.
I came to Masona for the first time to take my friend out for her birthday. It was also her first time here and let me say that we were more than impressed. The owner/Chef was so hospitable and I can't say enough about the food. We ordered an appetizer and two separate meals that were both amazing. We also had some Sangrias and they were also really great. Both myself and my friend can't wait to go back.
I think it was an “off” night. They were short-handed. In fairness, we should give it another chance. But beware, it’s listed as a Peruvian restaurant but there’s not much that’s Peruvian on the menu. I had one of those items, the Ají de Gallina, which was very tasty but nothing like what I’ve had a dozen or more times in Peru.
Our food took too long to come, at least 30 min and we had 2 children who were hungry. The coffee was weak. The mimosas tasted like there was no champagne in it. The wait staff were pleasant but the food wasn’t coming out. We all liked our food when it came.
