I’m astonished at the good reviews!! I’ve lived in at least 15 states in my 36 years on the planet. So far California has had the worst sushi. This Worst Place BY FAR!! Price gouging (I worked at a sushi restaurant in Salt Lake City. Land locked city in Utah. We got fresh fish every other day. Not frozen. Prices NEVER change by season. Lies. Get a new fish vendor if you guys can’t hack it). The fish will be my complaint. And the price for garbage fish. There are other customer service issues but whatever. Find out if you dare.
Authentic Japanese cuisine. If you miss Japan Town choices in San Francisco, you will be pleased to have found Matsuyama. Their BentoBaku offerings are really good, And, I recommend the Tonkatsu Pork. The prices are surprisingly low. If you miss eating good Japanese food , you may not be overy enthusiastic but you won't be sadly disappointed either. Don't forget, we are in Discovery Bay and it's not likely that the population here of Japanese and Japanese descendants is very high. I, for one, am glad they are here.
I wanted to write this review for so long! Discovery Bay Matsuyama has amazingly fresh cuts of fish. Definitely the best in the area! They are generous with portion sizes and the costs are very reasonable for such good fish. I just command to go, but it's always fast and they're always really grateful and kind. We always get the sashimi deluxe and one or two roles that are much for a party of two. I recommend this to every real sushi lover. They are busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so order accordingly!
First found Matsuyama in Stockton over 10 years ago. They were the best sushi in Stockton then and they are now, hands down, the best sushi in the Discovery Bay/Brentwood/Oakley area! We were VERY happy when they moved into the Sandy Cove center a year or so after we moved to Disco Bay. The staff are all extremely friendly, our 4 yr old daughter loves to see them when we go... Not to mention she loves their Smoked Salmon nigiri and Smoked Salmon Boston roll.
I'm so bummed not to be able to give a better rating. The customer service was really good. The service was fast. The rolls were a bit wimpy in size, but not too pricey. The spicy tuna was not really spicy though, and that's my fav. The other thing that I didn't notice until I left was that they had a conditional pass on the window.
Best sushi place around. Sushi is 100% always at the point. Since the quarantine, I've been trying sushi from everywhere nearby and no comparison with this place, not even Shiirasoni. I can't wait until they open, I'll eat there for a week
We are happy to come here to eat or take. Always busy, but they're fast. Menu is varied and we certainly have our habits . We feel happy when we get a table coz, they're busy.
I'm not a big fan of sushi, but I can't get enough of this place. I didn't have food from here that I didn't enjoy. The staff is friendly.
Fantastic sushi and teriyaki restaurant. Great for takeout.
