We celebrated Christmas Eve at this restaurant with a group of about 14 people. Once everyone arrived, we went upstairs to our table, and that's when the challenges began. They brought us water, bread, and butter, but we waited 20 minutes before anyone came to assist us, even after some of us called for drinks. When our drinks finally arrived, we decided to make the dinner feel more like a buffet, so everyone could sample a bit of everything. If you're interested in a fantastic Italian meal in the Howard Beach area, it's going to be tough to find a much better option. We had 8 people in our group and no reservations (we literally pulled into town an hour prior) and they sat us IMMEDIATELY. Ican't even get that kind of service at home in western NY, let alone anywhere in the NYC area. The staff was amazing and superfriendly, the atmosphere is what you would expect for fine Italian dining and the food was outstanding! It was more than whatI'm used to paying for, but I expected that being where it's located. My only regret was not saving room for dessert! Get theircalamari and thank me later!
Matteo's has been recommended to me multiple times by many friends of mine. Decided to take wife here for her birthday, and it was most definitely the right choice. Food is amazing, well seasoned, and the timing is on point. When we asked for a glass of Jameson on the rocks, we got a HUGE glass, filled to the rim. Price of more than 3 hours of feasting and drinking to our fulfillment was WAY cheaper than expected. Staff was super professional, attentive, and very kind to us. This is a wonderful establishment we plan on visiting way more often.
Excellent traditional Italian American restaurant. This location has been open for many years. In addition to a full bar they have a cozy dining room and function space on the second level. Food is outstanding.

Invited for a holiday dinner with a pre-selected menu. Enjoyed the baby lamb chops and baked clams. Would like to give it another visit and try the steak.
Amazing spot! Great management! Also, love that they put up a menorah for Hanukkah! Gotta love businesses who are pro Jewish!
