It feels bad to write this review for what used to be my favourite restaurant in NJ. Over the last few months, I had heard from my friends and colleagues that Mauka is losing its taste and quality of food and its service. Nevertheless I still chose to have dinner here on my LAST DAY IN NJ. And to my surprise, it was nothing like before! We asked for dry manchurian, we were served the gravy one. When we pointed it out to them, they technically just removed the gravy and served us the manchurian balls (which were tasteless and literally “dry” . The okra was undercooked and oily. I get it that this can happen sometimes; everybody has a few bad days. We tried to convey our feedback to the owner...
I visited there with friends and ordered Manchurian dry, Bhindi sabji with Garlic Naan.. Firstly, they served manchurian with gravy and after a request they served just plain manchurian balls garnished with coriander!! Bhindi was half-cooked and sticky! Even while chewing I felt the taste of seeds! On top of that when I explained everything to manager, he said ‘MY RESTAURANT IS FULL, IF YOU ARE NOT LIKING THE FOOD…IT’S YOUR PROBLEM! He was extremely rude! I’m disheartened.. Don’t want to say this.. but he needs to learn how to talk!!
My friend and I stumbled on the place on our way back from the beach and I gotta say we were really impressed with the food. The flavors are all very authentic and the spices are on point (if you cant handle spice let them know . We ordered the rosemary cheese naan (cheesy bread , poori (fried crispy bread , kheema samosa (minced chicken pastry , chicken biryani (chicken in rice , laal maas (lamb in spicy sauce and a mango lassi (mango yogurt drink . The experience was extremely bad. The waiter and the owner were extremely rude. The food was low quality. The ladyfinger was undercooked. The malai kofta was not how it used to be. Best Indian I’ve had outside of India. Place is laidback, super clean and the staff are all Uber nice and attentive. Food quality is great and very flavorful. Place is also kid friendly which is a big plus and BYOB.
I always enjoy new things and this is one that everyone should try. The food is delicious. I know it's a bit embarrassing to ask, but the waiters are very patient and explain things. I recommend it...
One of the best restaurants I've been too in my life, and I have been too many incredible restaurants around the world. By far the best Indian (Michelin star Semma doesn't come close)

Super yummyamaz ! Love that it is easy toorder spicy range so easy.. only thought-is to please put add side of you delicr rice! Ill gladly pay! Yum!!
