I don't know where to begin? let's just say I was very disappointed I saw the rating 4.5 stars n was expecting a sumptuous dinner, what I got was an overpriced bag so small I thought something was missing. My background? Married to an Italian during my college years, travelled all over Italy about 20 times I almost feel Italian!! 5 times on Italian cruise ships. For sure I know about Italian food. The 1 year old menu showed linguine for 26 in 1 year they jacked up the price to 29, what justified this big increase? The portion was small, this must be a joke. All the Italian restaurants near by: Basilico, Capone n black Trumpet all have real Italian chefs n portions are almost twice this size...
Outstanding! I've reviewed Mazara several times, and I'm returning to share my thoughts after yet another exceptional experience. I dined with friends this past Tuesday, and choosing from the list of specials was quite a challenge. I ultimately opted for the braised short rib, which was moist, tender, and perfectly seasoned, paired with risotto and fresh, crisp vegetables. This dish is a repeat special that never fails to impress me. One of my friends ordered the bone-in pork chop (also a repeat special), and as always, it was delicious. Italian is spoken in the kitchen. Need I say more. For sure the best Italian food in HB. Portions are generous, food is excellent, intimate dining allows you to make new friends, if you care to do so. Ambiance is on point. If Gino, the chief is not to busy, he will go off menu. I do it to him a lot. Calzone not on menu but it's really good. Takes me back to Jersey. The veal sorrentino is my go to here. My wife and I have been dining here since they first opened. Absolutely fantastic food and service! We visited Mazara for our anniversary dinner with the whole family, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food and wine were exquisite, and the owners and staff really enhanced our evening. We mistakenly thought the restaurant closed at 10 PM, so we arrived at 9:30, but they actually closed at 8:30 and graciously kept the doors open for us for an extra hour. This Italian restaurant is hands down the best in HB! They have a wide variety of food and delicious wines. The employees are very very friendly! They make you feel like you 're family. We go there most every Thursday. It 's our 'go to ' spot for a good and relaxing meal. Gino the chef knows his Italian cuisine. This is a 'must try ' place! You will probably become a regular like most of their patrons. You won 't regret it!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE! We found this restaurant “accidentally” a few years ago and go back regularly. As others have said best Italian in Orange County! Owners welcome you and stop by each table feels like we are visiting friends. Try to make reservations it can get busy but they will do whatever they can to accommodate! Still the best and authentic! The prosciutto pizza was absolutely incredible, and the dough was just perfect. It's a genuine family-run restaurant, complete with a talented chef, lovely servers, and of course, Laura, the owner, who always makes everyone feel welcome.
