The only REAL Irish bar in town!! After feeling a tad homesick I decided to visit the Irish bars of Cairns. Upon seeing there was 2 pubs I was delighted (Mc Gintys and Pj O 'Brians so I visited them both. After my experience I could not recommend Mc Gintys enough! Irish music played both day and night, (unlike Pj Obrians as I was informed after requesting dirty old town 'we do not play that sort of music at this time '......eh OK? A great beer that does not taste like a fish has swam in it, unlike Pj Obrians. Great autmosphere where everyone is just having the Craic, unlike the dirty smelling hole that is Pj O 'Brians that holds a similar atmosphere to piling a bunch of teenagers into a room...
Probably my favourite Irish pub in Australia and I have tried many of them. You get the feel that you are a local, even if it is your first visit there. Paddy and Helen are excellent hosts and all of the bar staff are both friendly and professional. Their turnover is such that the Guinness is always fresh and cold. The locals are a friendly bunch and host their own small but welcoming and challenging trivia quiz on Saturday afternoon. Bragging rights (I haven’t yet to earn them yet) are more valuable than the possible free drink. From 4pm each Sunday you will get to enjoy some traditional music and the occasional song. Great pub, really felt like I was at home in this Irish pub. It's a small clean bar with really lovely staff, Paddy and Helen were on the night we visited and we had great craic with them. I'm not a guiness drinker but my hubby is and he said it's the best pint he's had in Australia, so drop in and try one. If Paddy makes that visit to Ireland, I hope he gets in touch as we'll give him a great welcome in Wicklow Best wishes to all in the bar, Ger and Terry Wicklow
Hands down the best Guinness in Australia! This cosy and comfortable bar offers something that cairns tourists and locals need. Charming and warm interior with absolutely great staff. Rory is Ana amazing bartender and manager and the owners are great personalities and amazing faces of this pub.

Last night in Australia and couldn’t have spent it with better people. Robyn and paddy run this pub like you are valued guests in their home. That and a totally epic session makes this one of my favorite pubs in the world.
Great Atmosphere! Fantastic service, best Guinness in town. If you fancy a pint in a relaxed friendly authentic atmosphere, McGinty’s is for you. The Sunday sesh is the craíc, with live music and a cheery crowd.
Awesome place. Great English bar with kilkenny! The staff are really friendly and welcoming to all. The beer lines are clean and the cozy atmosphere makes it an great place to enjoy a beer. Highly recommend.
The kind of Irish bar you can count on for great beer, cosy setting full of the usual nic nacks on the walk, and no pokies.
