With the return of the sun in the past few days, a visit to rooftop bar Mechanics Institute with a drinking chum seemed in order – nothing like sitting in the open, catching a bit of breeze and soaking up some warming rays. Entry is off Lock Lane behind the State Library and up a flight of stairs. Three levels – the lower of them allowing smoking, the other two smoke free – as well as an indoor area which also houses the bar. Tables and benches with umbrellas for shade; the Alex hotel which has been built alongside far from detracting from the atmosphere adds an element of seclusion from the bustle of Northbridge.
a nice little short holiday in the heart of northbridge to sneak for a drink or two. it has a beautiful feeling and buzz about it and very knowledgeable barkeeper. if you drink is not on the list, the bartenders will always be accredited and it will be for them as long as they have all budgeted. a bit on the expensive side, but hey, they only live once.
Ambiance is what scores in this hidden heritage rooftop. All we had time for on the Friday night we snuck in was a quick beer and the loaded fries, both tasted brilliant with the buzz and the location contributing to the experience. Ratings to be revisited when we try more of the drinks upon our sure to be revisit!
Burgers from downstairs at Flipside are always nice, though not exactly the best burgers in town. But the convenience in this otherwise great bar makes everything more delicious. I particularly love their fresh pressed cloudy apple juice with a shot of whatever spirit type you like. My favorite is a dark rum

what a great little bar hidden in northridge. friendly atmosphere and good service. as there is a beautiful sunny day we sat outside on the terrace. drinks are cheap and food, the mainly burgers is really good to choose with a reasonable selection. all in all a little jewel of a place.
Burgers are good food is not really what these guys are renowned for their drinks are creative and the atmosphere is pretty nice. Worth a hang out to start a great night night. Eat elsewhere. If you eat here it is for convenience rather than an A1 meal.
It never disappoints. Ever.......... Love this place :central location,great relaxed vibe, excellent music and friendly professional staff I have always found a seat.
Awesome place for pint and chat. Decor is on point and the architecture of the venue is lovely old wooden housing turned establishment. Bartenders are quite fun too!

great cozy bar hid a back gasse in northbridge. stopped to see what was handicraft beer on the menu. excellent! very surprised with the selection.
a beautiful dachband the thad is something hidden. enjoy drinks at this place especially during summer season. the staff are friendly.
