We tried to a table here the night we arrived in the area but they were fully booked. They were very apologetic and we know next time to book well in advance. This is a small restaurant and we understand it is almost often fully booked. The reasons why are obvious. But we did get in the next night. They take reservations for two sittings, the first at 6:15 and I think the second at 8.The bread dish was almost an amuse bouche. Two types of, I assume homemade, breads with butter, chutney and a cheese short bread. Very good.I had a failure at home attempting to cook gnudi so we ordered it here. In addition to thoroughly enjoying it I think I have solved my problem. We also had veal scallopini w...
Heard so much about this place and decided to spend our 38th anniversary there for dinner. Was very disappointed as there were only 8 of us in the entire restaurant and we had to wait more than ONE hour for our dinner. There were 2 wait staff so that wasn't the problem. When we asked our waiter about the delay he said that the chef was a bit flustered because he had served Prince Charles earlier that day. We thought this was not a valid excuse. I was offered a free glass of wine but not my husband. (?) Dinner was ok. As it was past 10 o'clock, we asked for our bill and left quickly.
Friends who live in the area recently introduced us to the dining room at the Merrill Inn...we chose to sit on the patio as it was quieter and the temperature pleasant for dining al fresco. All of us started with salads, either the Caesar or their signature salad, followed by the Ontario rack of lamb, the duck and the pickerel. All were beautifully prepared and presented....and delicious! Dessert followed -- and coffee....the restaurant has a nice wine list showcasing local Ontario wines, ciders and beers. A very lovely and memorable evening...
Another fabulous meal prepared by Chef Michael. I was a little disappointed that his famous and delicious crab cake appetizer had been replaced by pickerel cakes, but not for long! They were fabulous, creamy, moist and enough for sharing. I had the rack of lamb, which was perfectly cooked and the lentil, green bean and sausage accompaniment was very flavorful. The tenderloin with chimichuri was also exceptional. Great wine list, great service. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
We ate here as part of our accommodation package. The restaurant is downstairs and is probably not accessible for the disabled. I found it tough enough with a bad knee. That said, the food was excellent but most people would probably only find one or two entrees as their favourites. The seating was very crowded. A reservation is necessary if you wish to dine there.
While there is a really diverse menu, we were a group of 5 who simply dominated the room as it really is very small. And we could hear the conversations around us so not recommended for intimate dining. Bread at start of the meal is amazing! Wine pairings recommended by server were average - not very knowledgeable on wine types i.e. called a baco noir a heavy red
The atmosphere and décor is wonderful! The service was excellent. We are Vegan and the chef was very accommodating and prepared an excellent meal. It also had the best wine list in Picton!!
Dinner choices were extensive. My wife chose the fish and me the lamb. Chef did an amazing and waiters and great presentation. Being able to eat outside on theor patio was a bonus. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Cosy restaurant in a small b&b. The food was very good and well presented. I had the duck main course and that was really enjoyable. Staff are friendly and helpful
