My wife and I decided to give the Merrimac Tavern a try for dinner last night. They were quite busy and didn't have sufficient staff on for the amount of diners.We arrived at 6.30pm grabbed a bottle of wine from the bar and then ordered our meals, we were told there would be a 30 to 40 minute wait as they were busy, this wasn't a problem. At 8pm I inquired about how much longer our meals would be, and the waitress asked again what we ordered and said they should be out soon. At 8.15pm the waitress informed us that they had misplaced our order and would start cooking it shortly or we could get our money back. We opted to get a refund as the place was emptying and we got the impression that is...
I responded to a letterbox drop that offered cheap dinners which looked good. We went on a Saturday night. The place was almost empty. There were 3 waitresses all lined up chatting but we went to sit down and the seats had food all over them. We went to a second table and we had to ask a waitress to wipe it as it was covered in sticky sauce. Ordered our meals which were cheap, but the size of the meal was definitely compromised. About a dessertspoon of vegies and schnitzel was half the usual size and dry. Prices were cheap but I won't be going back.
Generally I avoid taverns and pubs.. due to pokies and general atmosphere.. this one is nearby my house and I have been there a few times as my father loves pub grub.. the schnitzel Parma is tasty from here, good size portions, value for money and lovely staff.. sometimes live music, when I was here though the singer preforming didn't meet the atmosphere and it felt wrong.. plenty of parking and seating.. easy access from main roadway..
We had an incredible evening at this restaurant. The service, food, and atmosphere were all fantastic. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience. They also had excellent specials. Thank you to the chefs, Ernie and Meadow, for a truly awesome night!

Have been to this little tavern many times and the service and meals are always good, this is just like a little country pub except on the doorstep of the coast, always something to see and do and is very family friendly. Great pub great atmosphere and quality meals.
Decent meals. But youll have to eat it with the cigarette smoke from the smoking area which is 3 metres from the dining area. Staff could be a lot friendlier. Recent price increases has made it less value for money
I went to this restaurant by mistake wile looking for a different Lebanese place in the area and i was so happy I made this mistake.
The cocktails are pretty good, especially the espresso martini. They also have happy hour on Fridays. The staff is always friendly.

I only tried a sandwich from the take away menu, which wasn't the quickest but quite good and filling.
Great food and very nice staff... Only dropped in for a pit stop on the way home. Well worth it
