After a busy day in delightful Huntly, I was so ready for food and my first two choices ruled themselves out for perfectly valid reasons. I’m going to be back in the town a lot, so they won’t lose out on my opinion in future as I‘ve enjoyed meals there in the past. As I wandered sadly round the bonny Square, a helpful local who’d noted my search) pointed down a side street at a little statue of a chef, outside what turned out to be the most warm, welcoming and tasty experience for a hungry, by now ravenous, traveller. Although we don’t live that far away we had never actually visited Huntley before what a great little place it is. We came across this cafe it doesn’t look that stunning on the outside, and it’s quite old fashioned inside, but we had excellent coffee and scones and loved the relaxed atmosphere. What really made the visit for us though was our waitress, who could not have been more friendly and helpful. When there was a problem with our cafetiere she not only replaced it straight away, she also apologised profusely which was not necessary, as it was hardly her fault, but it was nice to be served by someone so obliging. Had tried a couple of times to go here but closes quite early. This time the notice on the door said cash only . Since Covid we hardly carry any cash and not enough for a couple of breakfasts. No wonder it wasn’t busy inside. The girl serving told us the nearest cash point was at Asda the supermarket back out of town on the main road or at Costcutters a bit of a walk away. On the way there we spotted the Cheers Bar which did a nice breakfast and coffee. So, sorry Merry Kettle you missed out in not having flexible payment options.
We popped in late on in the day. We were told the kitchen had closed but we just wanted drinks and cakes so we were happy. The surrounding were a bit tired but nice friendly server and the quality of the baked were great and the price was very good value. Just a bit stuck in the 1970’s and cash only…..

This restaurant is fantastic! The service is top-notch and the menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making for a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We all had a great time and will definitely be returning in the future.
The place to go for the best lunch. The friendliest staff ever. Polite, caring and patient. This place for a catch up with a friend, family or just a cup of tea. They do only accept cash which might be a problem. You can never go wrong with a toastie here.
Stopped in here for a late lunch while travelling further north. Good soup, good hoagies and very good coffee. Place was clean and tidy, food was not expensive at all and the service was good, good location also just of the town centre.
Beautiful egg mayo and prawn mayo takeaway from the merry kettle today. Bread was so soft and fresh. Walnut and coffee cake fantastic lovely big slice and so moist. Thanks Trish, Debbie and Co.,....yummy All gone !!!

We went to the restaurant for a cup of coffee and ordered a French press for two. It tasted strange, and we later found out that there were no coffee grounds at the bottom. It turned out to be instant coffee.
The food was served quickly and was delicious. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating. Just be aware that this restaurant only accepts cash payments.
