We had a lovely dinner here, and our server, Mike, was very friendly and attentive. We ordered several appetizers, so I can't comment on the main courses. The lobster tacos were tasty, though I'm not a fan of the fried tortilla. The salmon sashimi with truffle was also good, but everything was on the smaller side. The octopus and fried calamari were average—nothing memorable. However, the chocolate mousse with Oreos was absolutely delicious. Sitting outside was pleasant, and the music was great, but the overall experience was somewhat affected by the other customers.
The sashimi dishes here are truly outstanding! I tried both the tuna and salmon, and they were incredible. The tuna was served with a yuzu soy dressing, topped with scallions and crispy onions. However, the salmon was on a whole other level. They drizzled yuzu combined with truffle olive oil and honey over the sashimi, and you'd never guess it, but there was also a dab of butter involved! It might sound odd, but it was unbelievably delicious. I loved it so much that I returned the very next night just to order it again!
I have eaten many times in Mesa Mar, the food and service is always good, but this time was incredible. As an appetizer we ordered coco-nuts roll tuna (Please try it! . It is spectacular. Second appetizer: scallops. They were crispy and juicy with a delight sauce in the bottom. Filet Mignon, they know how to do a good medium rare. Chilean seabass was simply spectacular. came here to have lunch with my mom for Mother?s Day and it was the worst experience ever. The waiter was very rude. We ordered wine and he placed them together on the edge of the table and left..they could?ve easily fallen over, a waiter should place them in front of each person by their plate. A bit disappointed. The vodka sauce in the seafood linguini was a little bland but had good consistency unlike the lobster bisque that was more like soup than cream. Not to mention that they brought out the wrong order but I was hungry and it did look good so I didn't complain. In retrospect the server seemed not very experienced or maybe she was preoccupied... Everything else was pleasant and tasteful.
Eduardo was incredibly accommodating and assisted us in making wise meal choices, especially since we don't eat all types of seafood. He is a valuable asset to this restaurant. I will definitely return!
The grilled langoustines and grilled octopus were incredible. This is the only restaurant in Coral Gables where you can enjoy scallops without bacon. Mesa Mar gets an A!

The lobster with the creamy mild chili sauce was absolutely delicious, and the scallops were incredible as well.
