I decided to try this place instead of my usual go-to Mexican restaurant, El Rincón Mexicano, as it was closer to me. I was really disappointed with my experience here. Not only did I pay $19 for 3 tacos and a drink, which I found to be extremely overpriced, but the food was also not good or authentic. I ordered the Bistec Tacos and found the meat to be tough and chewy, overly oily, and with an unusual inclusion of radish pieces that I've never seen in a real taco before. The large slices of onions were also jarring in size. Overall, I found the meal to be sloppy and poorly executed. These tacos did not meet my expectations of authentic Mexican cuisine. I will not be ordering from here again...
Recently, I decided to try Mi Pueblito for lunch. I ordered the Marinated Pork Burrito with Red Beans as my main dish. The Burrito was served with chips, guacamole, salsa verde, salsa roja, and sour cream. The portion size of the Burrito was very generous, however, I was disappointed that the pork lacked flavor and had a tough texture. I did enjoy the guacamole and chips, as well as the salsa options. As a fan of Spanish cuisine, I was let down by the red beans, which were lacking in flavor and more like a soup consistency. I am willing to give this place another chance and try different menu items in the hopes of a better experience.
Located in the heart of Kearny, NJ, this charming Mexican restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian options. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. Prices are reasonable and all dishes can be made without meat. The guacamole is delicious. However, the menu is a bit overwhelming and some dishes, like the tacos, were lacking in flavor. Additionally, the late dining room hours may not be suitable for everyone.
This restaurant appears to be a family-run business. It is a small establishment that serves tasty tacos. I particularly enjoyed their pork and shrimp tacos every time I tried them. My only critique is that the guacamole lacked flavor. It is more of a takeout spot than a sit-down restaurant. I personally feel that paying for only three chicken flautas and a large serving of fries is not worth the price. It felt like I was getting fries with a side of flautas. However, the flautas were delicious and my favorite part of the meal was the Agua de horchata. I am addicted to that drink. I just wish that for the amount paid, customers would receive a little bit more food.
The drink not my favorite by choice however me being a Mexican food expert by opinion have to say portions were great, filling and so fresh and tasty. Would be my final meal if I was death row. I forgot to take a picture because I was so hungry.
This is the best Mexican restaurant in Harrison and Kearny. The service and food quality are top-notch. The restaurant is very clean and the portions are generous. You will definitely leave feeling full.
