Typically Chinese ambience colourful bordering on gaudy. Small restaurant probably seats about No one else here when we arrived at sat evening but was almost full by the time we left.Service was excellent. Very attentive, courteous efficient and knowledgeable when questioned about the menu.Food: Extensive menu, typically Cantonese but with some more unusual and interesting options on the chef's specials section. We both started with soup, which was OK. Then I opted for Spicy King prawn vermicelli hot pot, which was well presented and very tasty. My partner opted for Chicken and cashews in a bird’s nest. We went there for a celebratory meal and after years of previous visits were totally disappointed. The whole thing about the place has totally changed including the chefs I think as the meals we got were nowhere near as good as on previous visits. The bill for five of us was over and then the waiting staff hung around for a tip which was not happening anytime in this life. I can only say that after years of loyal custom we will not be returning ever again and wish we had never gone there the last time.
After years of visiting the Ming Cottage, I have to say that the last visit was a total disappointment. The whole place has changed including the chefs I think as the meals we ordered were totally bland and then the bill came to for five of us which was totally astounding. The staff then hung around waiting for a tip which was not happening in my lifetime. This is definitely not a place to go for any kind of celebration and me and my party will certaninly not be returning anytime in the near future.
I have never had a bad meal from Ming Cottage. Even though I am moving further away, I still come back here. They drive 5 miles to pick up my order, as the takeaways near us do not compare in quality. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who has not tried it before. The restaurant, although a little dated, is clean and welcoming. This will be my last takeaway from Ming Cottage before Christmas. I am excited to try their new year menu as well. A well established resteraunt. I first went here over years ago.....and it is still as good today. The menu is very comprehensive and the prices are good. Locally it has a very good reputation. I have been here for special occasions like engangments, bithdays etc etc and we have always been pleased with the service and the food.
a good round place has come for years that eat better than take away, but food. always good michael and grace are very good hostess what the best chinese takeaway and restaurant, as now, finally drunk its doors for good all the best grace and meael and simon in me retirement
I can honestly say it is the best Chinese food that I have tried, it is a family business with an amazing atmosphere when the restaurant is busy. eating is fresh and of quality. I am happy to go back to christmas and nye
