Now this place will rock your taste buds forever after! I instantly fell in love with it. Why? Because: their waffles are vegan and made from scratch and absolutely scrumptious. Their ice cream is all made in-house and from scratch with realistic (un-American) amounts of sugar in it. Also, their portion sizes will leave you just happily blissfully atiated and not sickly full. Their flavors are new, exciting, exotic and often vegan, too (I am not a vegan myself but I am just happy for the vegans that they have more and more places to go eat out at). So, yes, the long queue is totally worth it! I had the black sesame scoop and another one which was a concoction of crushed blondies, sour cherri...
This is my favorite ice cream shop in Ottawa! The flavors are phenomenal and they are very accommodating for those who are gluten-free. Any ice cream that contains gluten is labeled with a 'G', but otherwise all flavors are gluten-free. They even have a strawberry shortcake flavor made with gluten-free oats in the shortcake! They make delicious homemade gluten-free waffle cones as well. They also offer a variety of vegan ice creams for those who are dairy-free. I always make sure to mention my allergy when ordering, as they do offer gluten-containing cones. I have never had any reactions here.
I've been here twice and the flavors were very different between the two times which is great. It means I have a reason to keep going back! They let you try as many flavors as you want, and since some of their flavors are more unique it's a good idea to just in case! I really like the hong kong milk tea, one of the permanent flavors, but have never been disappointed with my final selections. If you go on Wednesday they have Bubble Waffles and you can even get your scoops inside one! They also have different flavors for the waffles. Their regular waffle cones are GF I believe.
This creamery is my new favorite place for ice cream! I like their original flavors (especially vanilla and ginger or milk chocolate and red beans), the fact that ice creams are prepared on site and often with local products and changing menu. the place is small and not often room to sit inside. 'The menu changes and it's always delicious'. said my son who lives in Ottawa and just had to take me here on a hot July day. The chalkboard tells you the same-day ingredients, the helpful and way-busy staff are patient when you ask for a sample, the scoops are generous (yes you can mix and match) and the price (2 scoops $7) isn't beyond the notion that you deserve a treat today.
I stopped by this afternoon after reading an article about this little shop online. I was not disappointed at all! The ice-cream flavours are inventive and the 2 I tested were very tasty. But above all, the cone was the best I ever had! Very crispy and tasted amazing. I'll go back but on a Wednesday this time to try the bubble waffle cone.
Just wow. I tried the vegan chocolate ice cream in a homemade (freshly made) gluten free vegan waffle cone and it was to die for--definitely the best vegan ice cream I've ever had, and possibly one of the best chocolate ice creams (both dairy and non dairy) I've ever tried. This is an absolute must for anyone who has cut out dairy.
The GF waffle cones at this restaurant are fantastic! The staff is very informed about gluten-free options and celiac disease. They do mention that they cannot completely prevent cross-contamination, but they do take precautions. Most of the ice cream flavors are also gluten-free. It's definitely worth a visit!
