My wife and I have wanted to checkout Moon River Thai for a few years now. We finally stopped in for lunch. From the outside it is very plain, but upon entering you see that what is on the outside doesn't always speak for what's inside. Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the calamari as an appetizer, it came with lightly breaded fried veggies (which were very light and tasty). My wife ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken and I ordered Mussamun curry with beef (Thai hot). We both had unsweetened tea as our drinks. My favorite Thai restaurant bar none ! The quality of the food, the atmosphere, the price, and the service are tops. Each meal, even lunch, is served on a cloth table cloth starting with a bowl of soup. The food is delicious and plentiful. Well seasoned (not too much or too little). And their tofu is just the best ! What a delightful little addition to southern Virginia's Danville community. One of my favorite Thai places on the planet. I had the Pompano fish special. Always good. Tracy had the crispy garlic chicken. Daughter and Son in Law are Vegan and they had plenty of choices for them too. They had basil fried rice with tofu and some other dish lol. All were happy!! Highly recommend. I had the whole fish, pompano, and it was perfectly fried, impossible to replicate at home. The accompanying vegetables and rice contributed to a perfect meal. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere makes me want to linger over the signature drink, a basil Manhattan. I love everything about this place. All the food was great: -snapper, pad Thai, salad, wonton soup, pho, calamari duck curry! And the server owner were awesome! Definitely recommend! This is me Sengdeth. I appreciate the owner for that red snapper he gave me. Great staff Great food Very humble and down to earth owner I didn’t get to meet the wife, cause she was in the back cheffing up all the deliciousness.
This was my second time trying Thai food. I had a wonderful experience here! The food and service were equally exceptional! Thanks, Jesse, for your knowledge, patience, and attentiveness! Absolutely divine the spicy noodle was excellent. The salad with peanut sauce was heavenly, the atmosphere was very calm and peaceful and clean. Well most definitely be revisiting before I head back to Tennessee.
It was special since shared with a special friend. The outside decor did not express the grandeur of the entire ambiance. A little paint, plaster and plants on the exterior would be eye pleasing
