The Sun (Mountain Sun on Pearl and Southern Sun off Table Mesa) was a regular stop when I lived in Boulder; I was vegetarian then and, given a customizable veggie burger and several other options, had plenty of choices. I recently went back to visit Boulder and stopped in (OK, three times). I'm vegan now and it was still a great place. The decor is fun: Boulder hippie, Grateful Dead-inspired stuff. Their beer selection is phenomenal (though they ran out of my favorite Rouge de Brouge just before I arrived). There is often a wait, sometimes a long one, but it's worth it. One of the things I really like about the Sun is that all employees cycle through all jobs: cook, wait staff, kitchen help....
The black bean chili does contain some cocoa powder. The Tempeh Reuben without cheese is bomb, comes with a vegan island dressing. My three favorite go to options are the salads (you can sub arugula for no upcharge), the hummus (double check the variety of the day) and veggie sandwich, and the burrito (the black beans at the Sun are the best I've ever had). Oh wait! Don't forget deconstructed nachos!!! The beans, salsa, loads of fresh jalapeños, and the addition of a large side of guacamole is a perfect meal. Although no longer listed on the menu, you can order the half size, and it's more than this fat kid can eat. Shittttt... French fries too! They have separate fryers for French fries and...
that is the best eating in boulder. excellent vegetarian choices (the chili is always available) and rotating specialities that make it different every time. many brave and many bier choices for different palate. often wait a bit, but it is worth it and they can taste their boobs at the bar while they wait. the atmosphere is a little loud, but that's because everyone has such a good time! the personal is friendly and attentive with great beer advice. art works are beautiful. this is a bar only settling, so they come with real money prepared or pay the money fee (one machine is provided in the back). even if they arrive after 10 o'clock, the kitchen is very limited, but it is still worth it.
brian was our server and he was extremely polite, professional and polite. my friend and I used to order food because we talk and catch up, and we were never rushed to order! I had black chicken quesadillas that had great taste, crust was perfectly cooked and the salat, quack and acid cream on the side was the perfect amount. my friend had a home salad with huh and the size and taste was excellent. we had their fyipa, which had a nice smooth, full body taste. my next trip to denver will hopefully include a trip back in mountain sun pub and brewery! I came here because I saw the reviews that it was vegan friendly, and it's hardly. there are no signs for what is vegan / vegetarian on the menu, and if we asked the server what vegan was she courtesy, but because she had a problem with her tempeh supplier, had only one option, a portabella sandwich w/out cheese and mayo. it was a good sandwich, and the restaurant had good craft bier, but it is not exactly vegan friendly. only one warning.
Mountain Sun may not have a super extensive vegan menu, but the items they have are very tasty and the beer is great. My husband and I typically split the tempeh reuban without cheese (but with vegan thousand island sauce) and black bean chili with avocado. And beer. The staff is friendly and I enjoy the atmosphere. Located right on Pearl, Mountain Sun is usually buzzing. We go to Mountain Sun every time we are in Boulder.
Super friendly staff told me my tempeh Ruben will be made in a separate (vegetarian) frying pan. They really sounded informed and on top of the needs of vegans and vegetarians. I really appreciate that as I know most restaurants claim to serve vegetarian food, then use pans and utensils used for meat to make them (often unwashed or just wiped). Great beer and atmosphere. I really like this place.
My girlfriend and i both had a great vegan burger/sandwich with their really excellent homemade fries. Their selfbrewed beer is also very tasty. The staff is very good informed about vegan lifestyle. All thumbs up. Good place to go in boulder! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
offers vegan over burger, tempeh reuben, vegan chili (w/ out sour cream), hummus, and in the regular a daily vegan special. the vegan is great as a diving sauce for riders
