Popped in with daughter for dinner as she lives close by. While she is a regular and we expected a little wait, being a Tuesday wwe hoped not to long. Staff were lovely and welcoming although suggested the wait would be about an hour to an hour and a half. We sat out the back in the bar and had to call staff over to get drinks, they were lovely and obliging but oblivious to the needs of patrons.After a few bar snacks and a couple of cocktails we eventually made it through to be seated at the bench overlooking the kitchen. It was a lively fun spot and the waitress came quickly, dinner options were chosen from what I believe to be a spartan menu. All options were delicious and our wine options...
I booked in advance for 4 people (2 of whom were visitors from tourists) and came on time. What was odd was that we still had to wait around 1.5 hrs even though i booked, either way, everyone in the group was fine to wait considering this place was quite hyped up and weren't famished. We were told to go across the road to a bar called 'Jungle Boy' which is literally a nook of a rum cocktail bar situated behind a refrigerator door (yes it's true) inside an American sandwich shop called 'Boston Sub'. So, be sure to book well in advance! You can wait up to 2 hours if you don't. Once we were called in to dine, it was non-stop amazement. I was skeptical at first with this Japanese fusion but all...
Finally I get an opportunity to get into this place and the expectations are high. The waitress suggests a whole range of items so we go with those. Fish Taco - excellent, Duck spring rolls - don't bother - too salty, greasy waste of good duck, sushi rolls - very nice beautiful presentation good flavours - worth a try, crispy beef salad - hit and miss. Very clever dish but great bug chunks of fat - no thanks. super rich mayo flavours - felt sick after that one. Then the Fried chicken...seriously just go to KFC. nothing special to see here folks. Probably won't go back unless for social reason and will stay well clear of the fried rubbish.
Thought we might get the food delivered to see what all the excitement was about and this turned out to be a good idea. Duck spring rolls were very tasty with the delicious mayonnaise dressing. Prawn and ginger dumplings were not bad but dominated by the thick dumpling skins and less enjoyable. The wagyu bolognese was the next dish tried and not at all to my taste and confirmed I am not a fan of fusion cooking. The last dish was a Japanese beef curry which we also disliked. Went there for dinner. Was super busy but apparently this is normal. Felt very rushed but I guess it is about bums on seats. Loved the individuality of the dishes and the humour put into the writing of the menu. We ordered a set menu, which was delicious. It was really rushed though. Dishes kept coming out before we were finished even when we asked for them to slow down. And it was so dark where we sat, it was hard to appreciate the visual appeal of the food!! Told you I was too old! Would definitely go back with a bunch of friends. Thanks for having us pensioners.
I highly recommend Mr. Miyagi. The food is sublime. Just pick one of every friggin thing on the menu...because it is ALL that good!Favs...tuna sashimi, salmon taco, pork rib, kingfish cerviche...just to name a few.Recommend you get them at 4.45 and line up or if there are 6 of you or more than you can book. Waltz in at 7pm and you'll have to come back at 10pm! Do be warned.
Delicious food at Mr Miyagi! We shared lots of yummy dishes. Booked a booth for 10 people which was nice and cosy. Delicious cocktails. Our waiter was fantastic, he was friendly and catered to all our needs. It was a friends birthday and they even went to the effort to decorate the dessert with a birthday message. Will definitely be going back again soon!
I loved this place. It's aimed at a younger demographic than me but it was fun to people watch. I ate 2 small plates and was full afterwards. The salmon nori taco and the kingfish ceviche - the service was exceptional too. Just go and enjoy. I did and will be going back to try their prawn and ginger dumplings. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Beautiful food & enjoyable atmosphere, Biggest disappointment - price of wine! Cheapest bottle $60! (way over priced) Ok, good food, expensive wine - then disposable chopsticks! Sorry - lost me! Mr M
