We were there on We’ve been to this place several times over the years and never had a bad experience before, but this was enough to makes us never go again. We were there for a little drink and something to eat for lunch,...as all tables outside were taken we headed down stairs and ordered some food and a jug of drink. Our food arrived and as we were eating I looked across to an empty table and it was a massive cockroach crawling! I was horrified, called staff member and this man cane over and used his elbow to throw this roach to the floor them he stamped on it. What a disappointment. Went there last night and ordered what I always ordered. Franziskaner Dunkel, Bretzel with butter and the famous pork knuckle. The Bretzel was warm but had a burned taste to it. I though well if it's just the Breztel.. that's alright. Then...I took a sip from the Franziskaner and it tasted disgusting, stale. That beer was gone! I grew up in Europe and I know how fresh Franziskaner tastes! Then the pork knuckle arrived... It looked dry as hell and it tasted that way. Furthermore, it was already cold. we tend to stop here for dinner every trip to sydney (from mel). in Germany we have lived a because love a German beer hall. the carvings are not the best of the world, but they are decent and cheap. a good selection of German beers and Aussie wines. the employees are very good to even deny the rules of the covid. love the system of table order, great! next trip back
This is no German Restaurant we ordered the Lowenschnitzel which came with slaw and seasoned chips. The crumbs on the schnitzel was not traditional and over cooked. great German Restaurant with awesome service. there is also group of singers that entertain during our visit. we love the pork knuckle, the crispines of the pork skin and the tenderness of the meat. really great experience int his restaurant
We ate here three times while in Sydney because the food was excellent, plentiful and in a bustling lively restaurant. We ate here two years ago when visiting Sydney and it remains as good as we remember.
No better way to spend St Paddy’s then listening to a Oompah band singing Irish songs!!!!! Wonderful ambience had a lovely dinner of schnitzel.
